What a waste of an evening

The White House Correspondents Dinner is happening tonight, featuring remarks by the president himself. I won’t bother listening, because not only do I despise Trump, but it’s a room full of sycophants who have, with rare exceptions, enabled him.

I think Michelle Wolf had the perfect comment:

resonates more today: “I think what no one in this
room wants to admit is that Trump has helped all of
you. He couldn’t sell steaks or vodka or water or
college or ties or Eric, but he has helped you. He’s
helped you sell your papers and your books and your
TV. You helped create this monster, and now you’re
profiting off of him.”

    Some nut fired four shots outside the building just before the dinner, causing DJT and government members to evacuate.

    Aside from those that did help create the monster, the sycophants and partisan hacks I mean, those real hard working journalists can kinda reply with ‘so what’, right? I mean Jonas Salk did ok out of polio if looked at through the kind of lens this comedian is doing for laughs. He would have died poorer and less well known if Polio didn’t exist that’s for sure.

    The trouble is that the humor potential lies in the implication that making money off of Trump, the books etc, is implied to always be bad. It ain’t

    indianajones, the ‘joke’ (which it ain’t) has a punchline: You helped create this monster, and now you’re
    profiting off of him.

    It’s explicit that what is bad is helping to create that monster and then to profit thereby.

    Some fool named Thomas Cole attempted to rush the White House Correspondent’s Dinner. He shot a secret service agent, saved by his bullet proof vest and was in turn shot and arrested. This event will surely suck all the oxygen out of the news cycles for the next few days. Trump will be vaunted as a martyr by MAGAts every where.

    All these people allegedly trying to assassinate Trump seem to be rather incompetent at doing so, one has to conclude.
