Must-see TV!

He always looks like such a buffoon, even with a stupid crown

Donald Trump is visiting England, why I don’t know. I hope all my friends in Great Britain are prepared to boo and hiss and shout rude things at him while he’s there. It seems some in the media are prepared to respond appropriately to him.

More than 100 of Donald Trump’s inaccurate statements are to be dissected by Channel 4 to coincide with his state visit, in what it described as “the longest uninterrupted reel of untruths, falsehoods and distortions ever broadcast on television”.

Give him hell. That’s what our media should be doing but isn’t.

Maybe we’ll get it on YouTube or something later?

BTW some clever Brits projected an image of a photo of Trump and Epstein standing together. The image was projected on a turret of Windsor castle, showing not all royal things are useless.

So they’re not going back more than a few hours?

More than 100 of Donald Trump’s inaccurate statements …

I saw somewhere on the internet that he is up to 35,000 lies since he was first elected.

It would be better if they repeated 100 of Trump’s latest threats.
He is making threats against one group or another almost every day.

He has gotten to my groups already.
Scientists who are losing their funding and jobs on a massive scale.

    Leftists, whatever that is.
There is no shadowy group of Leftists in the USA to take down before they write sternly worded letters and post them on the internet. Or donate money to food banks and animal shelters.
Leftists in the USA are all but extinct.
What he means are people to the left of the Nazis and Proud Babies.

    I’m sure he means it.
    Probably nothing will happen.
The Trump regime is big on making threats but have trouble with planning and carrying out anything.

raven @ #4 — We could come up with a taxonomy of sorts to categorize Taco’s utterances:
    • Lies
    • Threats
    • Insults
    • Bull Shit

Some of these could have subcategories, of course, which would make it a true taxonomy according to my ontologist colleagues with PhDs in philosophy.

Note: Professionally I’ve been a “taxonomist” for the last 11 years. I think this way.

The last category is often conflated with Lies but there can be a difference. An example of the “Bull Shit” category might be his riff on his uncle telling him about teaching the Unabomber at Harvard, which is impossible because the identity of the Unabomber wasn’t known until after Taco’s uncle died. But, the point of the story isn’t to lie but to bombastically brag.

I disagree that “Leftists” are all but extinct in the US. I think there are quite a few around. That said, Leftists and Liberals in general are not organized, nor represented in government. About the closest we have to “Leftist” voices at the national level are AOC, Bernie Sanders, and a couple others.

The taco in chief can’t go for more than one sentence without LYING, BULLSHITTING AND/OR THREATENING.
I’m sure that the pomp(ous) and Circumstance royal treatment he got really pumped up his ego.

Our former Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, has also contributed a poem:

    STATE/BANQUET

How it glitters and shines, The Grand Service,
among the rocks and the rubble,
laid out on a breezeblock horseshoe table,
    six crystal glasses per setting.
It took eight servants three weeks to polish –
silver coated in a thin layer of gold –
even the concrete dust in the air seems glamourised
and the ruins are decked in the uplifting flags of
    democracy.

To start, fillet of Dover sole filled with salmon mousse,
served on a bed of leeks with white wine sauce.
Poached Sandringham venison with truffles to follow,
then Key Lime Pie, and among the wines,
Chateau Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, 1990.
Yum-yum. Let the trumpets sound on the bombsite
as the great and the good pick their way through,
and a famished child peers through a bullet-hole in a wall.

Bloody hell! They arrested them? :

UK protesters have been arrested for projecting images of Donald Trump and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein onto a castle in England where the US president will stay during his state visit.

The Led by Donkeys group, which is known for its viral stunts targeting politicians, broadcast a video montage for several minutes on Tuesday, local time, onto one of the towers of Windsor Castle, west of London.

The shots included Mr Trump’s mugshot, portraits of Epstein, newspaper headlines and footage of the two men dancing together.

Thames Valley Police said four adults were arrested on suspicion of malicious communications following an “unauthorised projection” which they described as a “public stunt”.

    The four remain in custody.

    Alverant, patterns.

CBS announced The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will end in May 2026 when his contract expires. For $reasons$.

“Just days before the announcement, Colbert criticized CBS’s parent company for a $16 million settlement with the White House over a 60 Minutes interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. He called it “a big, fat bribe” during his monologue. Soon after, the FCC approved an $8 billion merger between Paramount Global and Skydance Media, which imposed government conditions on CBS’s news division—including rolling back DEI efforts and reshaping editorial control”
