Deep, calming breaths everyone!

Whenever I feel the rage and frustrating rising, I can just contemplate Knut and Iliana and feel my blood pressure drop.

Those kids are probably going to add a few years to my life, especially since I won’t have to deal with any of the trouble they get into.

Felines haved the same effect, until they decide it is hilarious to bury the claws in the local human.

People in Quebec race each other in giant pumpkins paddled downriver. Maybe that could be a way for you to relax when you are not in the same town as the grandkids?

I’m honored, as I’m sure the rest of the residents of the Illinois-Indiana region are honored, that your grandchild is named after our humble neighborhood.

Knut is quite a big boy! And Ileana looks like she’s going to be a delicate little doll. She’s really beautiful.
My two petite little granddaughters each took over two years to reach 20 lbs, but they are mighty in other ways.
Our new grandson (different Mom & Dad) is 7 weeks and weighs 13.8 lbs. We’ve told my daughter-in-law that she must be producing ultra-heavy cream! We’ve also offered to give them both back braces for Xmas.
He’s alert, happy and is already outgrowing 9 month sized onesies. My poor, tiny little daughter-in-law is going to have a terrible time lugging that child around.
Enjoy them, PZ. You’re right – we get to enjoy the grandkids without the major responsibilities. It’s so much fun to watch our adult children handling being parents!

While the kids give me an immense amount of joy, sometimes the thought of the world they will have to live in makes me despair more than anything.

Thank you for the reminder to just leave the world for a bit and enjoy the kids in it.
