Here we go: arbitrary provocation.
President Donald Trump has announced that the US formally recognises Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and will begin the process of moving its embassy to the city, breaking with decades of US policy.
“I have determined that it is time to officially recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” Trump said in a televised speech on Wednesday.
Oh fuck. Fuckety fuck fuck. When d’ya suppose the new war is going to start?

I am sorry to barge in with a completely off-topic comment, but our venerable “friend” and YouTube jackass extraordinaire Phil “Thunderf00t” Mason has just resorted to a bullying campaign of a much smaller and female (of course) YouTuber and YouTube buddy of mine, Inés Dawson of the channel DrawCuriosity. Apparently he used a clip from her video in a non-Fair-Use way and when confronted with a DMCA claim from her, he put up a video slamming her and irking his much larger audience to go after her.
Watch and be horrified:
DrawCuriousity threatens copyright claim over TENS SECONDS of video!
I hope you guys can contribute by flagging this jerk’s video and such. Thanks in advance!
People have been arguing over that particular city for about 3000 years. Trump seems to think that his declaration will solve everything. That is breathtaking ignorance, breathtaking arrogance, or both (my bet is ‘both’).
I wish he could be promptly removed on the basis of the fact that he’s a danger to the United States.
The idiot is a danger to the whole world.
I’ve said it before: After Trump is done, the only meaningful distinction between the US and Haiti will be that the US has nukes.
We’ve seen this movie before, sort of, in Canada; in June 1979, the government of then-Prime Minister “Joe who?” Clark introduced a motion to move the embassy to Jerusalem. The uproar was immediate and overwhelmingly negative, and the motion was withdrawn (eventually). Clark’s government fell after only six months (although it was over a budget, nothing to do with the embassy proposal).
(Hooray for parliamentary democracy! If the leader of the government does something really dumb (or evil) the House can vote no-confidence, and then he’s out of there .. sort of like impeachment, but potentially much, much, quicker).

The religious right has wanted this for decades. A lot of Democrats voted for the Senate resolution recently involving this matter. There’s nothing arbitrary about it…which makes it all the more provocative.

ThunderSnowflake is such an ass. All she’s asking for is an acknowledgment of her work that he is using, which is not at all unreasonable.
the question of is it arrogance or ignorance or both is easily answered when you factor in humility. arrogance and ignorance are always joined by conceit of which the man has a vast supply that is not balanced by any humility what so ever.
This action as with most of his actions are the result of the poisonous combination of ignorance, arrogance and conceit.

But, you see, when this leads to violence it will just br proof that those muslims are inherently bad.
Evangelical christians have been slavering over this moment for ages on end. This is what they want; they want more war in the Middle East, because Armageddon. Can’t have your Jesus until you have your Armageddon.
Under Trump, Jews and Muslims will be able to come together in Jerusalem and wish each other a Merry Christmas.

Sadly, Democrats could have as easily failed on this issue. (It perhaps helps having actual policy experts to keep them in check, though.) I remembered something about this in a party platform and finally realized it was from the 2012 national convention where it (recognition of Jerusalem as the capital) needed a 2/3 vote, didn’t get that vote, but the chairman accepted it since it was voice vote. https://youtu.be/t8BwqzzqcDs

Holy hell, the fever swamps are going bugnuts about this. The anti-Semitic Trumpanzees seem convinced this is some 12D chess move that will end Israel once and for all. To others, this will somehow end the Mueller investigation and bring down Hillary and the globalist pedophile conspiracy. And it goes downhill from there. What the hell is wrong with people?
Cognitive dissonance from 2 generations of being lied to by neoliberal shitheads like Roger Ailes and Rupert Murderface.

Someone suggested making Jerusalem a UNESCO heritage site, protected for everyone. That might not be a bad idea.

Lose the “If”. These guys really think “we’re screwed, we’re gonna set the world on fire and drag everyone down with us” It’s the only thing that makes sense. Perhaps “steal everything and claim it was lost in the fire.”

This is not the first time that Trump seemed determined to fuel terrorist propaganda, and not the first time that he has ignored good advice from U.S. allies.
