She’s been hired as the new Public Relations Director for American Atheists.
You know who we’re going to be griping at over the next round of AA billboards, right? Dave Silverman is sighing in relief that he now has someone to duck behind. Did he tell her that her job involved being a target?
Sili says
No offence meant to the differently abled, but I hope she at least isn’t (colour)blind like the last person in charge of billboards.
'Tis Himself says
My thought is similar to Sili’s at #1. Perhaps Ms. MacBain has a clue about graphic design, unlike the folks at AA who have been designing their prior billboards. One can but hope.

Her background is in events planning, public speaking, volunteer coordination, and being a community leader and spokesperson (i.e. she was a Methodist minister), so I’m not sure how much knowledge she has of graphic design. On the plus side, I’m pretty confident that she’s good at marshalling resources and knowing when to hire a professional. I think we’re in for some great advertising campaigns.
Leo says
Adding to Ibis3 @3 (ironically), perhaps she’ll know how to advertise to the religious? Win? Time will tell, I guess.

I’d read about Teresa MacBain in this NPR piece.
I hope this career move works out for her. The idea of working as a pastor with no other job prospects is horrifying.

Porco Dio says
you think she’ll be wise enough to do anything about the no hugs policy?
Matt Penfold says
No. She is not responsible for dealing with things that only exist in your tiny mind.

I bet if these organizations just asked for some help, they could find folks with some graphic design experience who would donate time to consult with them on their ideas. Some of the things I’ve seen don’t require an MFA from Pratt to figure out a better solution.
Sili says
Hopefully not. I hate hugs.

@7,
I don’t actually like being touched, but then, I’m Canadian. Our standard greeting is an exchange of Timbits. We’re a hearty people.

Leo #4, she stopped lying on leaving religion. As most of the religious are accepting of the lies of the pulpit and blind to the truth of reality, this may be a major challenge. We should never stoop so low as to use the coercive methods of the church.
Congratulations, Teresa.
