This is a 100% accurate portrait of daily life at Scienceblogs

I predict this cartoon will be appearing all over the place here today.

I quite like Bob O’Hara’s equivalent portrait of Nature Network, too.

I want a Big Brain wrestling mask like that!

And it’s cool that at least one scientist thought to bring his attack dog sidekick to the melee.

  2. recovering catholic says

Now we know PZ has a cephalopod tat on his right shoulder! And that he’s much more buff than he looks in his t-shirt and jacket.

  3. dexitroboper says

I get Drug Monkey, Tim “deltoid” Lambert, Pal MD?, NFI, Omni Brain?, Ed “rocket science” Yong, Janet Stemwedel and then I’m out.

  4. 'Tis Himself, OM says

Do you nerds think any of that’s real? Extreme blogging is all fake. All of it!

  5. Josh, Official SpokesGay says

I am extremely concerned about the jocular use of violent imagery that’s become standard fare here. Cartoon depictions of people being slapped, punched, and headlocked are unacceptable . Violence is never a joking matter. I fear PZ’s imprimatur will encourage the already out-of-control commenters to take the next logical step and begin calling for the public beating of those they disagree with. I, for one, will be writing to Seed Media demanding that PZ be properly punished.

    Oh, and I’m so clenched.

    Josh-

    Oh, and I’m so clenched.

Is it a sphincter clench? I can feel it from here.

Oh, I’m clenched everywhere it’s possible to be clenched. I’ve gone beyond twisting – I’ve shredded me knickers.

Sorry, Josh – the only extras left in the dresser right now are thongs. I think it was my turn to do the Pharyngulaundry this week, and I was too busy repairing all the clutched pearls.

  9. Josh, Official SpokesGay says

    Pharyngulaundry

    BWA-HA-HA!

That’s OK babe. I’ll keep my clench going with alum, Looney Tunes style.

  10. Carlie says

    Pharyngulaundry

The shirts with 8 or 10 arms are a pain in the butt to iron, let me tell you.

  11. Kausik Datta says

May I humbly claim credit that I saw it first in Bob’s blog and sent it to PZ this morning?

But I have a question: how do you all identify all the people in the third panel? Do the esteemed sciencebloggers all know each other by face?

  12. DLC says

hm.. as Orac (the box o lights) can’t move on it’s own (that I know of) I would have to imagine some sort of scene like this :
    Orac : “You’ll have to toss me . . . ”
    “Don’t Tell ERV ”

PS: Josh, OSG. . . what’s wrong, somebody beat the Kw*k outa you ? Kick you in the mooney ?

New Definition: Mooney shot : A hit to the framing.

  14. Romeo Vitelli says

“I predict this cartoon will be appearing all over the place here today.”

    OMG!!! YOU’RE PSYCHIC!!!

  15. jcmartz.myopenid.com says

Are we supposed to be surprised/shocked?

Although I wonder who would win the “Greatest Science Beard”.

  16. miketrilobite says

Brayton and Myers for Greatest Science Beard ever? Pull the other one. Nobody can beat the elderly Darwin!

Now, greatest science blogging beard ever maybe, but wouldn’t that just be reinforcing the male domination of the science blogging world?

Love it! I’ve been trying to introduce new verbs into the lexicon as well. To wit:

Enkwok verb, transitive– to despoil a blog post so as to render its original meaning useless and to drive off otherwise potentially engaged commenters. An enkwokked blog post may be compared to the hull of a ship that has been compromised by barnacles.

    haha! good one!
    new closing tag:
    /smashing the kwokery.

Heh, first thing I thought of was, “No! Not the centrifuge! Those things are expensive!”

  20. David Marjanović says

    LOL!

Can’t find a photo of Bernard Battail. His beard isn’t long, but otherwise perfect.
