LOLwhat?

I never cared much for this LOLcats craze, but LOLthulhu almost won me over…and now, at last, we have a truly appropriate subject for stupid captions on random pictures.

LOLtheist.

We are so going to burn in hell.

Oh I ♥ LOLcats. When I first discovered them it was like being seven years old again: I had such a giggling fit I could hardly breathe. They are totally, utterly puerile. And yet it is because they puncture the pomposity or seriousness of an image so effectively that they are such an excellent tool for rationalism. Maybe we should be posting them on billboards and hoardings.

I wonder – are there any non-Christian LOLtheists? For instance, “I’S IN UR MAKKAH, ROCKING TEH KA’ABA”?

I admit to a bizarre fascination for lolcats. I even have the grammar pretty well down. (Yes, there are rules that have emerged.) When I introduced my 9 year old to them he spat ice cream all down his shirt, he was laughing so hard.

The loltheists have good concept, but they aren’t so great yet. Need more entries to up the ante. I am seriously thinking about printing out the platypus to put on my wall, though.

    Early Darwin: Peacock’s tail – DON’T LIKE!!!

Later Darwin: Oh, girlz like. K.

I did like the “Invisible Jesus” a couple of pages in. That had a bit of bite to it.

As they say, Hell for the company.

Better to burn than serve a tyrant. That I may have the courage of my convictions if I’m ever asked to recant.

If we’re all wrong, I’d still rather hang out with you irreverants for all eternity than all those Jebus freaks saying “I told you so…”

LOLCATS is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment — because my sanity has a flavor, nom nom nom.

ANd, here’s a little LOLCATS trivia: The phrase DO NOT WANT! Originated from an english dub of the chinese translation of Star Wars episode 3. At the end, where Anikin is yelling “no!” his Chinese-translated, english-dubbed parallel-universe LOLVader is yelling “DO NOT WANT!”

Is it that story truely the source of the phrase? Who cares.

Thanks for the link and laughs. And what should iTunes pop up with whilst I am there? Teh Dandy Warhols, Godless. You should adopt it as your theme song here.

  9. Carlie says

Ok, Alan, putting my fav site postsecret together with the guilty pleasure of lolcats just made my day.

I like this one. There could be a good series on it like: “IM IN UR KONKREET”, “IM ON UR TOAST”, “IM UR OIL STAIN”, etc.

Then of course, there’s the now famous LOLTrek.

I’d have to say, based on pure confluence of gestures and body language, that “OH NO YOU DI’INT” is the funniest.

Hank, Darren and NoAstronomer, in no particular order – except maybe the order in which you replied? – thanks. I’d never never heard lolcats eating before and my two IRLcats* make more of a slurping smacking noise. Think I’ll try and teach them to go “nom nom nom” instead – oi, not mai fud u fleebags!

Hey, thanks for the link. We’re big fans of yours. As for the burning in hell bit, well, you know, everything has an upside and a downside.

    Heh.

My ISP refuses to admit that loltheist.com exists (keeps returning DNS errors). Coincidence or censorship?

I loved LOLcats since I first found out about it. But that’s probably because I’m a cat person. It’s low humor, but it’s fun and it makes that ridiculous geek speak to good use.
