Bin Laden Victory Lap

Bin Laden inaugurated the new millennium by breaking some bottles airplanes on the prow of a ship world trade whatever whatever, with the goal of destroying the america.  How did that work?  Like a charm.  We flushed ourselves down the toilet after that, always looking for a bigger and better daddy to tuck us in nighty-night and make us feel safe from our craven cowardly baby shivers.  His terrorism terrorized us into giving up on the idea of freedom.

About this much has been said, but one thing I don’t often hear expressed is that he really did win.  He died, but if he was a true believer about martyrdom leading to a sexy paradise, then Obama helped him achieve that part as well.  More importantly, the big aim has come to pass.  The republic is over, and while the empire will look shiny for a few seconds, that’s just the beginning of the end.

Who’s gonna be our Caligula?  Our Nero?  Our Caesar is a fucking humiliation, so I’m sure the succession ain’t gonna be much better.  Maybe Barron will be the one holding the fiddle when Canada finally nukes DC.  Wait, DC will be underwater from global warming, so maybe they’ll nuke Nuevo Mar-a-Lago, Greenlandsylvania by then.

This is not to be a doomer.  I think plenty of us will have passable lives under that tyranny.  This country is too big to successfully be run like North Korea.  It’s just not feasible.  But whatever greatness this country possessed has jumped the shark.  It’s all downhill from here.  Hats off to the man behind 9-11.  And if it turns out sasquatch is real and that man is Dubya, hats off to him.

    It doesn’t help all those decent folk who happen to be living in a red state, but I’m really hoping CA, maybe with WA and OR, find a way to peel off from the rest of the dying superpower, and maintain some sort of standard of living for their residents. If nothing else, CA has the economic horsepower to secede. I think the big problem will be finding a way to cut all the tax revenue from CA>DC, and keep that in CA, but as much as these nazis hate taxes and federal government, maybe they’ll do that favor for us.

    I dunno about Newsome… at one point, I remember having a positive view of him, and thought he was decent, and then he threw trans folk and unhoused people under the bus, and started palling around with fascists…
    but he (or more likely, one of his staffers) is doing a pretty great job of trolling trump, so…

    Do you think its more likely or at least a good chance that the USA will split and either have a Civil War that just possibly ends well or at least with the relatively better people in charge and anew better governance system or end s up as two nations with blue oastal states having decency Union-like nature and the Trumpland wastebelt-dead-heartland of the Konfederate Red states slumping intotheir own mess inthe middle?

    Are these reasonable scenarios? Plausible scenarios? Possible scenarios? Or just nope? Odds?

    i speculate when i have a strong sense of at least the broad strokes of the relevant facts. not sure on those questions. my guess is the usa does not have the gumption for another civil war, and will remain fascist for the rest of its existence. if a democrat does take power again, they will pull a heel turn and maintain fascism, but possibly less nastily? the US will collapse when some combination of disasters takes away food, water, internet, or some combo of the three, inaugurating the mad max era. less than a hundred years from now, but not very soon.

    A civil war in the US is not even remotely feasible. This ain’t 1860. The government-run MIC and other three-letter agencies would quash anything remotely resembling an armed uprising and they’d be done before morning coffee break. The whole premise is just silly.

    I agree with our host. The survivors of the upcoming environmental collapse will likely be hopscotching around the country in ragmobiles with bumper stickers that read “Bartertown or Bust” but not anytime soon.

    that’s the thing about the mad max era – it’s still possible to have a life, tho it will be harder. i want everyone who feels like the end is nigh to do their best to tough it out, enjoy the time they have as much as they can. it’s only “every man for himself, all against all” if we let it be.

    As soon as they passed the Patriot Act and created the Dept. of Homeland Security, I knew bin Laden had won. He even got a few years to enjoy watching us flush ourselves down the drain.

    Even back then “homeland” and especially “patriot” were trigger words to me. I was used to seeing flag-wavers using them to virtue signal, but when the government openly embraced them, I knew it was bad times ahead.

    Even now, I still sometimes in my darkest brain, suspect that while it was absolutely bin Laden’s gig and not a false flag op, the people who “ignored” the warnings wanted it to happen for that very reason (but I’m not so far gone as to think FDR wanted Pearl Harbor :)).

    @5 Bébé Mélange & #6. Dennis K: Okay, thanks.

    Even the 3 letter agencies etc.,. under the incompetent klowns Trump’s put in charge? Dunno. But maybe.
