SSA Blogathon Songathon: The Last of Barrett’s Privateers

I am clearly a bad Canadian, because I hadn’t heard of Stan Rogers before Ryan made this request:

A great song though. My voice can’t do it justice.

Oh, and Ian, as a bad Canadian (or is that lousy Canuck?), for penance you must slap yourself 6 times with a wet codfish.

Whale oil beef hooked. Love me some (even faux – Stan was on Ontarian) maritime music! Great choice, Ryan, and well done Ian!

You’ve never heard of Stan Rogers. Wow, man. And to think I was going to take you drinking in Nova Scotia bars in some fictional future party.

    At least you know now!

  6. 6

    God damn them all!

For American gold we’d fire no guns, shed no tears.

    Nice rendition man.

Go listen to “Northwest Passage” right now!

Well, to make up for this oversight, the Stan Rogers musical festival is the July long weekend in Canso. If you hurry you can probably make it.

And if you can’t make it back east, there’s always the Vancouver Folk Music Festival July 13-15…

I don’t know that that’s true, but when I turned 34 I made a big noise about making it past 33 and living longer than Him.

Of course I meant Stan Rogers, who else would I talking about?
