Our bigoted regent, Steve Sviggum, has resigned from his position as vice-chair of the board. He’s remaining on the board for the remaining year of his term, so we still have some ‘canceling’ left to do.

I have a vague recollection of Sviggum from my (thankfully) brief stay in Minnesota many years ago, and the impression was highly negative. As in, what an arsehole. And that was then!
Nice to see what remains of his career and influence grinding to a close.
Excellent news, and exactly what I predicted would happen to Sviggum. I’m sure that the legislative body and the Board of Regents have received far more than two letters demanding that he be removed from the board.
The surest way to end your public service career in MN is to publicly embarrass the entire State by violating the rules of MN nice. His ended the moment he uttered the phrase ‘too diverse from a marketing standpoint’.
Does this jackass not understand that “too diverse” and “not enough white kids” are synonymous, and that his attempt to hide his racism failed?
So he’s resigning a position that has very little addional power, relative to the other regents, but he is keeping his ability to vote as a regent. Sounds like a way to go whining to all the mad dog media outlets about how the mean lefties cancelled him while still being able to throw a monkey wrench into the works as often as he wants.
