How is it that I’m younger than you yet my beard is grayer than your’s?

My reaction to the Ray Comfort Banana argument is to point out that if you are going to consider ergonomics as evidence of $DEITY then you may want to reconsider your position on masturbation.

I would love to know the psychology behind minds like Hovind’s. Must be some sort of deep-seated insecurity or fear. What really pisses me off is the smugness. My biggest regret in these cases is that, when they die, they’ll have no awareness that they were wrong. They’ll just fade happily ignorant into oblivion. Oh well….

  4. nomdeplume says

In general terms Hovind is unable to understand the scientific process of question-experiment-hypothesis-question-experiment…., where ideas are modified over time in light of new evidence because in his mind the Bible was simply written and is unalterable. So no matter what scientific explanation is presented it can’t be right. You see this with Ken Ham and the awful Purdam (who should know better) – every modification of a theory in light of new evidence and analysis is evidence that no theory is correct. The bible of course never alters.

he is so proud to be deliberately ignorant.

He would have had to carefully protect his ignorance from obvious truths that are available in many texts – he is ignorant by choice and dishonest by profession.

Had to skip past the Hovind snippets, I can’t stand the smug dishonesty of the man. I do the same whenever Aron Ra runs him through the meat-grinder.

  8. pilgham says

Hovind;s problem is just like Comfort’s. They need people to tell them they’re making fools of themselves. They should do something useful with their lives. Oh, well, we’re all stressed.

Some creacrap is so stupid that it doesn’t even need a rebuttal. “Eighty millions bananas don’t fit in the Big Bang which had the size of a dot” is that crappy indeed. So afaIc your video is pointless.

  10. DonDueed says

For those who enjoy such things, Paulogia’s videos are very well done. He’s a former evangelical (Mennonite) who actually reasoned and educated himself out of fundamentalism. By the way, he pronounces it “pol-oh-GEE-ah”, obviously riffing on the theological term “apologia”.

But yes, it’s pathetic that channels like his are still needed in the 21st century.

Bad ideas are like crabgrass, they never stop showing up no matter how hard you try.

  12. Kagehi says

I say we ask him to prove it isn’t possible for a banana to fit into a period, by launching him towards a black hole. lol

  13. Pierce R. Butler says

… he has bananas on the brain.

    Musaceacephalitis? Psychomusaceacitis?

The thing that gets me, is their smugness. They’re actually proud they have less understanding of the universe than a 5 year old. I just blows my mind. The smugness!

These people pretend they’re intellectuals, but they aren’t, they’re anti-intellectuals. They have no interest in learning, knowing the truth, they actually go out of their way to NOT learn and gain intelligence. These people are deadly parasites, living off the hard work of science and learning (streaming his BS over the internet!), but if people like him were in charge, we’d still be living like cavemen. They really has sh-t humans.
