We have better clothes than ever for protecting us from the weather. Maybe people living in the South will have to get some and the people in the North will need parasols, as the jet stream will likely go on producing slower, more extreme weather variations.

These are Japanese maples stealing the show from our native trees which sensibly had shed their leaves months earlier. Notice how the ‘icicles’ appear to be growing upward from the leaves. The weight has bent the branches through 180º.

I suppose you could call it a nice day here in south Texas. It was 30 degrees last night, but it got up to 68 this afternoon. As for me, I prefer more consistent weather. I hate this ice storm one day and then 80 degrees two days later crap that we get here in Texas.
Now, Monterey California, where we used to live and plan to retire – that’s consistent weather. I’m looking at the temps right now – Now – 57 Fri – 57 Sat- 57 Sun – 57.
It rarely gets below 40 or above 65, year round. If it gets above 70, the locals complain that it’s a hot day.
Those beautiful 70 degree days usually happened in the spring and the fall. During the summer, locals would laugh at the tourists wearing shorts and happily sell them sweatshirts.
