Speaking in St Cloud

My travel plans are slowing down a bit, fortunately: Skepticon this week, then a break, and then I’ll be speaking right here in central Minnesota at St Cloud State University on 19 November…where, by the way, my oldest son attended college, so I have connections. So come on out to lovely St Cloud two weeks from today!

Oh, and to cap off the semester, it’s Eschaton 2012 in Ottawa. Then the world ends and we all get a nice rest.

Please set up a big cube outside the Eschaton in Ottawa. Those of you who read Charles Stross know the text that goes on the cube.

@1: I don’t read Charles Stross, so I don’t know what you’re referring to. Is the big glass thing on the front of the Museum of Nature close enough?

Wait, is the the public library & not SCSU? The announcement suggests it’s the St. Cloud Public Library. It kind of looks that way. It’s a little bit confusing because there is a Mississippi room in the Atwood Student Union, if I remember correctly.

    Which is it?

Monday, November 19th in the Mississippi Room at the St. Cloud Public Library (first floor) at 7:00 is what I am being told at the SCSU Secular Student Alliance.

    Good talk!

I did do a bit of reading on Creationism in high school (mostly Henry Morris stuff) and I did learn about some fundamentalist beliefs and attitudes watching religious television (which, I suppose, seemed pretty exotic at the time having been raised, in great part, in Spain as a Catholic –though with some exposure to mainstream Lutheranism on the American side of the family). However, I never did piece together the history of Creationism in a coherent way like P.Z. did.

    I really appreciated this.
