    Nice picture! I think that a dark flush like this is a threat display to make the octopus look fierce. If that fails and the diver continues to approach, the octopus suddenly turns pale and retreats. You can see the sequence in a lot of marine life videos. That’s a beautiful shot, Rishi!

    Does anyone know the species?

    But can it sing The International ?
    or is it a Red Republican, and thus sings Le Marseillaise ?
    Perhaps it’s just fagged out after a long siphon.
