Obama’s negotiating skills

As the debt-ceiling talks drag on, Democratic party supporters keep getting alarmed at getting regular reports that he seems to be willing to give away the store to the Republican crazies who are clearly losing the public relations battle, and keep wondering why he seems to be such a lousy negotiator.

It is important to bear I mind what I have said repeatedly. Obama and the Democratic party leadership are not trying to get the best deal from the Republicans. They and the Republicans agree on what they want to do (cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits and provide more tax breaks for wealthy individuals and corporations) because that is what their bosses, the oligarchy, want.

What Obama is trying to negotiate is a way to get all these things without completely alienating his party’s base. He will go as far as he can get away with. That is why all these trial balloons keep getting floated and then denied.

Will be interesting to see just what falls out of all these negotiations. I sell Medicare supplemental insurance from http://medicare-supplement.biz and I am pretty sure of one thing -- business will be picking up. I don’t see republicans or democrats as being able to sustain the level of services that Medicare provides. They will have to cut some where eventually either by force or by choice. As for tax breaks for corporations, I remember my economics professor saying that corporations don’t really pay taxes as income is derived from consumers so the tax is just rolled into the products we buy. Would be interesting to see just how much we really pay. Income tax, sales tax, tax rolled into the cost of products etc..

That’s not only Obama’s negotiation skill, but the economic team under Obama’s president do. I think bad situation that will happen in the US economic will affect world’s economic. Now, US dollar is getting weak against Japanese Yen.
