The colony has expanded just a little bit: all new, roomier containers for the largest of the black widows.
The smaller ones still have some growin’ to do in the incubator, but these I think are just about ripe for breeding.

PZ, I find the naming scheme of your spider colony charming. And you have to differentiate them somehow. Just assigning numbers seems…impersonal.
But, are those toys in some of the containers?
Do spiders need enrichment? They’re smarter than most people give them credit, but I don’t think any of them will be playing “fetch” with you. Is there a word for anthropomorphising an animal but into a pet, rather than a person?
The toys could be things confiscated from unruly students. Or, they could be like house numbers that identifiers independent of who is currently living in what crib.
