James Dobson is among the select group of individuals for which I will play “Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead”. Helms. Scalia. And now him.

Of course the current administration’s collection of the wildly unqualified and incompetent will extend this list. Fingers crossed for sooner rather than later!

    Brilliant.
But Dobson was not shot in the face, (as far as I know) so they’ll have to endure an open casket funeral.

What Hitchens said about Falwell applies:
“If they gave him an enema he could have been buried in a matchbox.”

I once commuted to work in Colorado Springs, the bus went right by the HQ of “Focus on the Family.” I remember the bus driver muttering “focus on your own damn family and leave mine alone.” I totally agree!

Another good news item. PZ and others do not need to worry about the robot apocalypse anytime soon.
The computational cost for weeding out errors in LLMs gets extremely high.

(Side note, everyone talking about “ding dong the witch is dead” reminded me the local supermarket has Ding Dongs on sale for $2.)

In a similar vein, tRump is worrying that he might not get into heaven. If he had bothered to read that bible he sells, he might conclude his chances are roughly equal to the chance of a Popsicle surviving a trip to the core of the Sun.

Though I recognize Pesci, I’m not familiar with the source. Could someone explain the reference for me?

  9. says

It’s from Goodfellas. Pesci is a mobster who thinks he’s about to become a made man, walks into a room to find plastic laid down, and the mafia guys shoot him in the back of the head.

  10. Hemidactylus says

It’s been a while since I saw GoodFellas. For Dobson a Dexter Morgan sets him up in a room surrounded by Visqueen barriers and photos of his victims scene might be more this century.

With Pesci I immediately think of “You mean, let me understand this cause, you know maybe it’s me, it’s a little fucked up maybe, but I’m funny how, I mean funny like I’m a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I’m here to fucking amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?” Then my memory wanders off to jackass Jim Breuer doing impressions of Pesci on SNL. Brain bleach. Bobby D did show up on one SNL skit.

Granted I haven’t seen GoodFellas in ages. It helped launch Liotta. I’m just not much into cliche Italian mob films. Never watched an entire Godfather and never will. Same for Sopranos.

    Nice. I am not alone.

PZ may or may not recall this, but way back (like ~30 years) one of the Christian participants on talk.origins had a son who was in the same scout troop as Dobson’s. Apparently, the kid was pampered and spoiled rotten, i.e. Dobson’s own parenting was a fail in more ways than just the beat-em-up crap. I don’t know what comes out of the psychological dynamic of spank-and-spoil, but it can’t be good.
