Forgive me my Lord and Savior for I have Sinned, and looked upon Linguini with Lustful Eyes. By thy Mercy and Goodness, grant me the Strength to love thee more, noodle-ogle less, and be more piratey. RAmen!

Very nice but Brian Greene just dropped an F boom on the PBS webcast portion of there new show “The Fabric of the Cosmos,” and gave me hope for the future. Damn it I could of asked him how many strings vibrating would it take to make up this great flower.
Have grown Tacca integrifolia in my garden here in Northern Thailand for nearly a decade. No fragrance, just attractive foliage and very unusual flowers. In Thai it is known simply as ‘Black Flower’ [ ดอกไม้สีดำ ].

Bat flower with tentacles.
No way to go wrong there.

Beautiful image. I grow tropical and subtropical plants, so I’ll have to look into these…

I tried to grow one of those from a root/corm/bulb thing I bought at the Garden Show. Failed abominably.

Hey, I’m not an expert; I just talk to a lot of them. And I try to document my fuckups for publication.
Bats are cool, and so are flowers. Does it stink?
Could this be a new awesome atheist resource?

Looks to me like a bio-mechanical take on the fighting machines from THE WAR OF THE WORLDS. Yeah, yeah, I know they were referred to as ‘tripods’…
Waaaaaay more impressive than a slice of toast!
It’s formal name is Tacca integrifolia.
