Ebro Ahmed saves schoolbus full of kids

A bus driver was having seizures and lost control of his schoolbus, and a quick-thinking hero jumped aboard and stopped it. There’s lots of news about him, but they all seem to be careful to refer to him as a “Minnesota man” or generic “hero”, and strangely, they credit the TV show Grey’s Anatomy for the rescue. They all seem to gloss over the fact that he’s a son of immigrants from the Horn of Africa. His name is Ebro Ahmed.

Will this event be highlighted in Republican stump speeches? I doubt it.

Republicans: “FALSE FLAG!!! IT WAS STAGED! He used Muslim Voodoo witch powder to give the driver a seizure! Then he conveniently swooped in to “save” of kids. Probably wants to sell them into white slavery!”

Though I suppose with Trump complaining about Somali immigrants allegedly buying Mercedes and BMWs, he’s going to complain about one being behind the steering wheel of a bus, too.

The Los Angeles Time’s original owners would engage in underhanded quiet racism like this. If a government spokesman from the relevant department said something and was white, they’d give his actual name and job title. The word ‘his’ there wasn’t accidental, they hated women too.

If a government spokesman from the relevant department was not white, they’d either just say ‘someone from this department’ (if a woman) or ‘a spokesman from this department’. Sometimes they’d do this only if they couldn’t find someone from a different, vaguely related department who could not know what was what but who was white and male.

If you wanted to know who said what, you had to read the Herald.

Given the current situation, perhaps to avoid a certain part of the government looking closely at him or his extended family.
BTW The Guardian has a story with a somewhat different take and quite explicit that he is both US and of Eritrean descent:

Ahmed elaborated with the Guardian on Friday, saying the Qu’ran verse declaring that “whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity” also entered his mind at the moment he decided to intervene on Monday.
Furthermore, he mentioned how challenging it had been for his parents – who are immigrants from the east African country of Eritrea – to run a store in Saint Paul during the mass deportation campaign pursued by Donald Trump during his second presidency.
Ahmed, who said he was US-born, added that business at the store had dropped ever since federal immigration agents at the forefront of that campaign descended on Saint Paul and nearby Minneapolis as part of what the Trump administration dubbed Operation Metro.
Guardian headline: “Verse from Qu’ran inspired US man to leap on runaway school bus and halt it
Ebro Ahmed, who acted after driver’s medical emergency, said he hopes incident will show Eritreans ‘in a good way’”
