I feel a bit cthulhu-esque

I was sitting at my computer this morning, when a fuzzy, tiny blob slowly lowered itself before my face. I looked closely at it, and it was a single strand of spider silk with a dead mosquito at the end of it. I tried to take a photo with my phone, but it was too small and close. Here it is, anyway.

Now it’s possible that some ceiling spider was fishing for humans, but I prefer to think that it was a spider cult offering a sacrifice to their god. I couldn’t hear what they were chanting, so I don’t know if they were praying for anything, and I prefer to think they were just expressing their gratitude.

Be careful! Some cults are known for sacrificing their gods. You wouldn’t want that, not even for spiders.

Any deity who eats offerings of dead mosquitos must be a benevolent one!

That said, I’m now somehow weirdly reminded of my PhD thesis advisor, who I at one point pointed out to that he had a spider dangling from a single thread from his glasses…

It hadn’t occurred to me that a false ceiling would be a haven.
Of course, I’m reminded of that scene in Aliens when the very sweaty Hudson nervously tells everyone, “That’s inside the perimeter!”

I use a flat screen TV as a monitor and just the other day I was disturbed by a shadow moving at the edge. Oh no the monitor is beginning to fail! or some malware is attacking! then it moved some more I did not tear open the monitor but the movements were what you would expect one of those spiders I see often roaming around my cluttered house. I hope it found its way out. It some how got in-between the LED backlight and all the defusers and the screen assembly
