Why is the Mass Effect 2 Illusive Man’s theme playing in the final third of the sketches? That’s… weird.

I’ve actually had a New Ager try to excuse a mistake by pointing out that physical reality is an illusion and nonduality entails that none of us is a separate being. She only tried it ONCE though.
In an episode of Gravity Falls, Mabel’s pet pig Waddles accidentally gained hyperintelligence. The whole episode was a spoof on things like ‘Lawnmower Man’.
Neil DeGrasse Tyson voiced Waddles.
There’s no way he takes himself seriously enough to be offended by this kind of thing.

It’s a series of three short sketches in which NdeGT uses astrophysical concepts ala Cosmos to make excuses to his wife for not taking out the dog for walkies, not remembering her aunt’s funeral, and having an extramarital affair. Nice use of graphics, but she only gets blinded by science in the first two.

abbeycadabra @10: “Lawnmower Man”. A film based on a Genesis song?
Me, I’m just a lawnmower.
You can tell me by the way I walk.
How could anybody ever stay mad at him?

Hey, don’t deny me my reality*, Sastra.
(*Actual phrase I’ve heard used unironically.)
@2 rael:
They use Mass Effect music in this sketch too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEfZG9OSytA
Shit. There is one particular woman who better never see that vid or my ass will be de grass.
You have to wonder how NdGT feels when he watches those clips.
I know that I would laugh like crazy in a similar situation, but not everyone is able to have that distance.
Anyway, I hope they don’t cause him any distress, because I found the really, really funny.
A comment on the video at youtube says that Neil posted a link to the skit on his facebook page, so my guess is he’s down with it.
Anyone up to describing this briefly for those of us who don’t or can’t see videos easily?

Because they are super big nerds, that’s why. :)
End of clip 3:
Uh…Go Bill…?
They’re ruining my childhood.
Well I guess that explains why I haven’t heard Bill on the Star Talk Radio podcast recently…
