I Know as Much about God as the Pope Knows about God, Part II.

The Pope knows, from the traditions of his church, and because the Son of God gave him power over everything on Earth, that he (never she), the Pope, is the god’s man on Earth. This is a central teaching of the church. The Pope, and his millions of minions, wishes to have our country run according to their rules. And their rules are stated by the Pope, because he is the Vicar of Christ on this Earth. End of story. Not believing this gets you sent to Hell. Or so says the Pope, because he thinks his god is like that.

Because I know as much about the god as the Pope knows, I can assure you that what the Pope says on this matter is not true.

You can find much of the complicated and contradictory “doctrine” of the Catholic Church, in their Catechism of the Catholic Church. Available in better bookstores.

When our country was founded, Roman Catholics (hereinafter “Catholics”) were definitely unwanted on our shores. Those arriving had to hide in “safe houses” until they could get safely settled in. Americans were very afraid that the Catholic Church (hereinafter “CC”) would get in control of these United States and force the country to be Catholic and to take orders from god’s man, the Pope.

It is beginning to look as if our founders were right and that the CC really does want to control American government and laws.

President John Kennedy was the first Catholic to be elected President of the United States. Many voters were very worried that a Catholic President would take his or her orders from Rome, the world headquarters of the CC and the home of that Pope. Here is what Kennedy said when he was running for election: “I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute — where no Catholic prelate would tell the President (should he be Catholic) how to act, and no Protestant minister would tell his parishioners for whom to vote — where no church or church school is granted any public funds or political preference — and where no man is denied public office merely because his religion differs from the President who might appoint him or the people who might elect him….”

My my. Mr. Kennedy and I share the view that religion should not have anything to do with the decisions of government and the laws made pursuant thereto. The Pope thinks that no earthly authority is superior to his authority, an authority given him, he believes, by his god.

The Pope believes that a god has appointed him to lead the rest of us. While that is more or less the way the god of the Bible operates, I don’t believe in what the Bible says. Not necessarily. Not generally. Not usually.

At any rate, it is clear that I know as much about his god as the Pope knows about his god.

More on this later.

Readers’ comments most welcome.

Gotta admit, it’s succinct. After reading this, I’m forced to admit that I, too, know as much about god (or God or GOD) as anyone. So does the squirrel that steals my tomatoes.

Bollox. Maybe you should do some research before you embarrass yourself.

Ah wonderful! Engaging in the same anti-Catholic, anti-Irish bigotry that the Anti-Immigrant forces supported!! You are a morally upstanding human being bigot. I guess the Irish really are just agents of a foreign king. Maybe we should deport all Mexicans and Latinos? You know a lot of them are Ebil Catholiks devoted to the overthrow of the Amurcen Gubbmint!!

Irish? Where are mentioned the Irish? Everybody knows that those waves of German Catholics arriving in the middle 19th c. brought waves of beer in their wake! They drank even on Sunday! And danced! Equal bigotry against Germans!

Seriouly, Aripressol, if anyone needs to do research to avoid embarrassment, it’s the one whose reflection you see in the mirror. Read the encyclicals of Leo XIII other than that “wonderful social document” Rerum Novarum–the theory of government they contain has never been repudiated–to get an idea of official RC political theory. JFK knew who he was dealing with besides the Protestant bible-thumpers. Santorum’s stuff seems mind-boggling in the 21st c., but he didn’t have to make it up himself.

How do you know that I’ve got a picture of Edwin Kagin taped to my mirror? … But seriously, everything he wrote in the highlighted passage was stupid and wrong, which is obvious if you do a little research. It’s a lot more complicated than the nonsense above.

      “Anti-Aripressol” ???

It appears you’ve acquired a nemesis.

      I’m jealous.

However, I do have a small problem with something you said. Edwin suggesting that the CC “looks” as if it wants to control american government is hardly BIGOTRY against catholics. Some idiot among a thousand might get riled up against catholics/catholicism over the statement, but thats not at all the blogger’s point.

Lets try to stay away from hate talk, friend. Lets be people that the blogger and his readership can talk to.

Thanks. I’m pretty much a superhero so I’m not surprised. As long as he doesn’t harness the power of the Nega-Sphere I will be fine.

As you say below: “Still, I think its safe to say that Mr. Kagin isn’t condoning any physical threats that the founders might have made towards catholic immigrants.” – and you’re probably right.

However the founders, and those who came after them up until an embarrassingly recent time were acknowledged and open anti-Catholic bigots, so when Kagin says: “It is beginning to look as if our founders were right and that the CC really does want to control American government and laws.” – you can see why it sounds like he’s joining them in their bigotry.

p.s. You seem sure that Kagin meant what I assume *you* would have meant. But then you consider the comments by Anti-Aripre and JanaTheVeg and all of a sudden it doesn’t seem so clear that he agrees with you more than with them….

  3. Anti-Aripressol says

@Aripressol, so you believe that pointing out the inconsistency of an organization that claims to be the basis of morality on earth, but is just a bunch of power-hungry socipaths, should be given a free pass in the name of not hurting feelings?

Please, tell me more? (/assume picture of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka) (/end sarcasm)

In all fairness to Aripressol in #2 who I admonished, I can see why he’s a little troubled by the blogger’s wording.

Still, I think its safe to say that Mr. Kagin isn’t condoning any physical threats that the founders might have made towards catholic immigrants.

My guess is that if he were pressed on the matter that even the author would admit that his wording is a little bit on the shitty side. But that definitely doesn’t qualify as “bigotry”.

We have six Catholic Supreme Court Justices. I don’t give a FUCK who wants me to “be nice”! No.

The Catholic Church is an international paedophilia organisation, and it must be stopped, period. What has been proven against them already constitute crimes against humanity, and it is irrelevant who gets BUTTHURT over that! Hurt feelings don’t matter at all compared to CHILD RAPE. None of you light-loafers could sit through a VIDEO of a child rape, much less the performance. The God-damned pope himself- Mr. RAT-zinger said, and I quote, “Back it MY day, it wasn’t considered that bad.”

Either this ends, or we accept what we all are- guilty. Being immobilised by fear or disgust just isn’t good enough. Lying to yourself OR others isn’t good enough. Baby raping, baby selling monsters like this ARE running the Vatican, as they sit on their horde of treasure like bloated dragons.

Drop a bomb- or send a drone.

the ROMAN Catholic Church is just that ..the vestiges of what was at the time the DYING ROMAN EMPIRE. It was reborn into the form of the Catholic Church.

The Romans loved their Rituals and many emperors proclaimed themselves GOD. The creation of the church was the one way they could keep control of the masses.

This country was founded on the Enlightenment and while even our own country has been corrupted since that time (and even at the founding there were forces that were attempting to wrest them from the more enlightened) It was NEVER a “Judeo Christian” nation. It is hilarous that some Christians claim that because they point out that some of the first people to land here were Puritans and that the Mayflower compact said Yada yada yada.. how little they understand about the world they live in.

Could the irony be any more sweet?
