It sounds as though Maureen Brian is going to get the nod, but I’d like to put Louis out there for consideration, on the grounds that his righteous indignation, fresh from the chip shop and wrapped in yesterday’s Guardian for that uniquely British flavour, makes me laugh until I cry. That guy can write a little bit.

Yeeeessss, Maureen Brian’s eloquent message needs wide dissemination, perhaps a rotating sidebar. I would award, if I could, a group Molly to all the other women of FTB. I hope these recent weeks will be seen as a watershed in clearing the misogyny out of this place.

Ahh yes… the part where she dichotomized everything with a “you’re either with us or against us” statement, and promptly lumped me into the “against us” (or more accurately, insinuated that I’ve chosen to support and defend those who seek to molest women) for having the termerity to suggest that people get out and lock horns with the culture they seek to subvert.

… and no one called her on it. There was no reason to cast that emotionally charged aspersion against me. My suggestions were misguided, and I accept that; however, I don’t accept that I’m a person who has any tolerance, let alone provides support for those who seek to molest women, in spite of Maureen Brian’s claim that it was obvious that I do.

IMO, with the caveat that I don’t strictly agree with the classification, it’s this kind of behavioral blind spot that gets the commenters here labeled baboons and bullies.

I had somehow missed the post Caine linked to in #2, possibly because I tend to only visit bi-weekly nowadays, time, short of it and all that. But I had already noted other posts by her equally deserving of a nomination and had made a note to remember her when it next came molly time post. So, the one in Caine’s link is just the icing on the cake and, hive mind and echo chamber like, I find I have no resistance to echoing the nomination for Maureen Brian.

I don’t get to vote for Mollies often because I don’t know half of y’all half as well as you deserve (heh), but I can only second the vote for maureenbrian for the same reason.
