It’s back on. Fort Bragg has approved the atheist festival, Rock Beyond Belief. Be there, 31 March 2012.
Oh, look. The site CSS has been patched up to give the place a more homey, familiar look. Those of you who have a custom CSS file in Firefox might want to remove it now, in case we do more makeovers in the future.

Now, I’mma not gonna likely enter US ground space in the foreseeable future, but.
I’d love to contribute in absentio, as it were.
Is there any way to, like, donate to the cause? Or would that desecrate the separation between State and Military? If so, I totally understand.

Sorry to veer off topic, but I come over here and the first thing I see is…a pop-up ad? Really? What is this, Geocities?

Whoa… noticed a big increase in traffic – thanks PZ, you rock.
We are not currently able to take in donations for the festival in a meaningful way. There are some very technical and boring reasons why. Luckily, a single pledge of $50,000 from the Stiefel Freethought Foundation allows us to put this thing on without having to nickel and dime people to death in a widget or spam campaign.
Don’t get me wrong, we could really do some serious damage with another $50,000. We could have gotten the FLAMING LIPS! They were totally willing to do it. The glitter alone would have taken a week to clean up at Fort Bragg :)
Maybe at a future event. We still have 2 more posts left that put on the evangelical christian membership drive (officially sponsored by DoD) that spawned our festival. Maybe I’ll nickel and dime you guys then!

Sounds pretty cool. Too bad I’m in Illinois, where absolutely nothing interesting seems to happen.
@Phil65: Pop-up ads? What are those? I use Firefox.

That sounds fun…
Anyhow, I hope the new format keeps up some interesting posts – and not just yours. That’s one thing I liked about scienceblogs; there was always something interesting to read on someone else’s blog if I’d already read yours ^-^

Great! I saw the news item about the $50,000 in funding. I hope the post is providing as much in services, material, and money as they did for their evangelistic effort.

I hear SuperPACs are good for donations. *checks to see if Colbert has reached infinite dollars yet*

Well, then. This is something to look forward to.
Long before March I’ll be living within a few hours drive of Fort Bragg.
Lucky me.
Would be cool to hook up with other potential attendees.

Thanks for the new css PZ!
One request: can we please have ragged-right text? This justified text is awful to read. Thank you!

PZ —Would it be helpful to have someone count and collate the requests for style/functionality changes in The Complaints Department thread? If so, I volunteer to write up the requests along with the number of people who asked for them so you can prioritize. If you see this, lemme know and tell me when you’d like it so I can set myself a deadline.

One of the very few reasons I find having left Fort Bragg 6 months ago via ETS unfortunate.

Oh dear FSM the drop shadows. Please, please, for the love of meatballs get rid of those (or make them subtler, not hard), so painful to read.

Mr. Computer Dummy here. Q: Do I just delete the CSS I created per directions posted here several days ago? Every thing looks good now–even numbered comments.
