I’m not sure what an act of God is, but this has to be close

I just donated part of my monthly FTB pay to the link above, you’re hereby invited to join in, add 0.01 to a whole dollar ammount if you want them to know it came through a blog. … So, after all the ugly lies about how some deadly event is somehow a God-ly harbinger of whatever conservative cause the right-wing nut job du jure happens to be spewing that day, finally, mere days before a momentous election, a freak hurricane-blizzard-storm strikes that peels back the facade built to disguise the dangers of anthropogenic climate change and the unusual cruelty of a government harnessed by the ultra rich solely for widening the luxurious gap they already enjoy from us riff-raff, all in one fail swoop. You can argue about whether or not a rape is a specific, planned divine event, but I’m pretty sure a hurricane would have to be, if the terms “Act” and “God” have any literal meaning.

Do you really want to know how Smarmy Team Romney reacted to this tragedy?

Buzzfeed— But even as Romney, clad in blue jeans and rolled-up sleeves, hustled around his area of the gym, shaking hands, thanking supporters, and stacking cases of bottled water on top of each other, signs of stagecraft remained.

As supporters lined up to greet the candidate, a young volunteer in a Romney/Ryan T-shirt stood near the tables, his hands cupped around his mouth, shouting, “You need a donation to get in line!” Empty-handed supporters pled for entrance, with one woman asking, “What if we dropped off our donations up front?”

The volunteer gestured toward a pile of groceries conveniently stacked near the candidate. “Just grab something,” he said. Two teenage boys retrieved a jar of peanut butter each, and got in line. When it was their turn, they handed their “donations” to Romney. He took them, smiled, and offered an earnest “Thank you.”

They put some canned goods they bought into the hands of attendees so the attendees could pretend they were inspired and giving them to Romney — the Red Cross website has stated for years they can’t use items in kind like canned good. If you want to help, give money, or if you’re broke donate blood — the Red Cross can handily turn blood donations into money too.

How is this election even close again?

Have you ever noticed that the definition of “an act of god” is always something negative?

    Storms, lightning strikes, etc.

Never a pack of fluffy bunnies hopping up to you with $20 in their mouths.

God is a prick. And his acts are always negative.

Oh and BTW: All blood donated to the Red Cross is sold to hospitals. It’s not given away. Just so there’s no confusion about whether donating blood this once would create a special circumstance.

    Give blood anyway.

    Give blood anyway.

And keep doing it. The need doesn’t go away when the flood waters recede.

Remember: Whatever you do, always give 100 percent–unless you’re donating blood.

    Yes, please give blood.

About a decade ago my young daughter came down with a rare condition that could be treated with a blood product that required 6000 pints of blood to get enough of whatever it is to make one dose. She recovered.

If you’ve ever given blood, thank you. You may well have contributed to my daughter’s recovery.

Before that event, I was lackadasical about donating blood regularly. I haven’t missed an opportunity since then. I’m O+. I do “double reds” every 112 days. I need to live another 910 years before I will have replaced those 6000 donations.

Actually, God is intervening in this election even more clearly than you describe: first hitting the Republican convention, then giving Obama the chance to look Presidential just a week before poling. Hell, it could hardly be clearer if he’d struck Romney down with a thunderbolt!

How is this election even close again?

    Yeah, that. Seconded.

As for an act of God I think its playing that eponymous fictional character in a play or movie such as The ten Commandments or something with that NRA “can’t look at a dead girls photo” guy isn’t it? Y’;know his was an act of God wasn’t it?
