Vote for Santorum or Satan will take over America

Let's see, who could it be ... SATAN!?

This is one way the GOP is trying to kneecap Santorum, making hay out of something he said back in 2008 about Satan.  Suddenly, for the fundamentalist infested Republican Party, talking about Satan as a real threat to the nation like this is cah-raaazy!

(DailyKos) — “This is not a political war at all. This is not a cultural war. This is a spiritual war. And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country – the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age… He didn’t have much success in the early days. Our foundation was very strong, in fact, is very strong. But over time, that great, acidic quality of time corrodes even the strongest foundations. And Satan has done so by attacking the great institutions of America …” — Santorum 2008

Oh noes! I scared!

Was it strong because men and women of color were enslaved to work the land for fat cat Southerns? This “founders” worship is sickening.

In the 2008 speech mentioned above, I believe Sanatorium then went on to say something about how Satan has the rest of the world in his grip and America is God’s last stand against him.

Wow. So he thinks all nations besides America are firmly in Satan’s grip??

That should make for an interesting foreign policy, shouldn’t it?

Don’t worry, the leaders of the mainstream churches will soon be pointing out where Santorum has gone wrong. They have too much integrity to allow such nonsense to remain unchallenged.

(Heath Ledger’s) Joker was at least totally up front with what he was about, more than can be said for Santorum.

According to MSNBC, 60-70% of Americans believe in Satan. That’s just frightening.

Here’s what I don’t understand about Satan: If somebody is simply uneducated about cosmology or evolutionary biology, I can see why it might be natural to believe in an intelligent designer. But why does the presence of evil in the world require one? When you’re a little kid, you always want to get your way. Is it so hard to understand that other people might be selfish too?

    At 8.

Other polls have found far lower percentages who believe in satan.

The Barna group which is an evangelical polling organization has it at roughly half of all US xians. The xian population is 76% of the total US population.

Not sure where the discrepancy is. A lot of xians just look at satan as a symbol or metaphor.

Rick Santorum is running against both Obama and satan.

What century is this anyway. This isn’t even something out of the 19th century. We’ve never had a president who ran for office to oppose satan. It’s straight out of the Dark Ages.

FWIW, my natal large mainline Protestant sect never really talked about hell, satan or demons. I doubt if many really believed in them like a lot of modern xians. The demon theory of disease was right out.

To me, even as a ex-xian, it is an alien concept. Like someone running against ghosts, vampires, commies, or UFO aliens with anal probes.

PS If you try to make sense of xian mythology, you can’t.

God is the creator of all. God created satan, demons, and hell.

God is all powerful. God lets satan and the demons run around doing whatever they do.

Thanks god. It’s not like we humans can’t mess up things on our own.

Such a god is a monster and to be feared maybe but not loved or worshipped.
