Science Joke Saturdays

In honor of Stephen Hawking, this week I wanted to share a scientist joke rather than a science one.

His appearances on shows like the Big Bang Theory always made me think that he had a good sense of humor. This story makes me believe that even more.

Reminds me of a story I heard about the time Stephen Hawking was late to his appointment to do the voice work for his part on The Simpsons. The writers and other voice actors were waiting for him in a conference room. Harry Shearer was in a corner reading a newspaper. When the conversation waned at some point, a voice came from behind Shearer’s newspaper, “Does this man have no concept of time?”

John Oliver once interviewed Hawkings and, on the subject of infinite parallel universes, asked if that meant there was a universe where he (Oliver) was smarter than Hawkings. The reply?
“Yes……….and even one where you’re funny.”

He also once told a hall full of people that he’d recently fallen ill, but was better now. “All they had to do was turn me off, then back on again.”
