This Has Now Passed Ridiculous

Remember the unintended consequences of the NC bathroom bill? Well, just in case you were wondering just how intended they actually were, a NC School Board just made it perfectly clear.

A high school in North Carolina has just passed a rule which would allow high school students to carry pepper spray with them specifically to “defend themselves” against their transgender peers. “Depending on how the courts rule on the bathroom issues, it may be a pretty valuable tool to have on the female students if they go to the bathroom, not knowing who may come in” said school board member Chuck Hughes.

Great. Just great. Slow clap for these assholes everyone.

No offense intended to ani.

An editorial in the Salisbury Post said the policy — and [school board member Chuck] Hughes’ reasoning — were misguided. “Actually, LGBT people — often targeted by bullies — might have more reason to carry pepper spray than most students,” the editorial board wrote.

And, of course being high school students, there is NO chance that the pepper spray will be misused for any other purpose than defense. (/sarcasm)
