Goat Rodeo

Someone over at dkos described the republican controlled house as a “goat rodeo” and I immediately decided to steal the term. It has way better visuals than that old stand-by “clusterfuck” and I don’t want to think about what that would even look like.

Naturally, I asked Midjourney and GPT-3:

A goat rodeo is like a comedic circus act where participants attempt to tame the wild and wily goats. These creatures are known for their intelligence and cunning, making it a true test of skill for the would-be wranglers. Expect to see hapless participants slipping and sliding on hay bales, desperately clinging to the goats as they try to make an escape. But don’t be fooled by their silly antics, goats are quite sly and will use every trick in the book to outsmart their handlers. It’s all in good fun and a great way to get a laugh out of watching people get bested by these clever creatures.

Midjourney AI and mjr: “goat rodeo”

One of my old friends used to keep goats and had a party where a bunch of people showed up and parked their cars in a field nearish to the goats. In the morning, some of the owners of fancier cars were horrified to discover that the goats had been playing “king of the hill” on their priceless, polished, trophies.

Call it whatever you will, be the rest of us are going to suffer for it.

In the meantime, it looks like Howdy Doody broke his ankle and the goat is wearing spats.

I am curious how Howdy Doody would be integral to a goat rodeo, aside from the insane love right wing nuts have for the 1950s.

  3. JM says

The guy and the goat are having too much fun. To suit the current situation you need more people riding goats and setting everything on fire and mostly being angry. Plus a bunch of unhappy clowns.

Could also be compared to a game of donkey baseball. You just know the donkeys are going to do whatever they want and there will be no real winners at the end.

So it’s not just the number of fingers, it seems like the end of any extremities are a challenge for midjourney.

Well, the goat’s left horn tip does seem to be on fire, so I guess the rodeo is just getting started…

This is the first AI art I’ve seen with the correct number of fingers, though Howdy’s leg is broken and it went bugfuck crazy on the hooves. Also, not sure why the reins/saddle (?) are emerging from the goat’s body like tentacles, or what that tool is on his belt where you’d expect a gun or whip.

  7. Pierce R. Butler says

Those tentacles holding the rider in place seem more Lovecraftian than cowboyish, an effect enhanced by the flesh gouged from the weird-eared yahoo’s cheek dangling from the asymmetric left horn.

«I am becoming concerned about the relationship/interface between Marcus and Midjourney»

Marcus, show us your hands, how many fingers?

  9. Reginald Selkirk says

I am reminded of Burton Gilliam, who played “Lyle” in Blazing Saddles. He had a real-life Howdy Doody face.

  10. Tethys says

I’ve never seen a goat rodeo, or a goat wearing cowboy boots and spats. It’s an apt comparison if you imagine that the rider is also a goat, which aren’t very intelligent though they are wily creatures when food or catching them is involved. Nobody expects them to Spider-goat right up walls and into trees.
