Don’t you wonder what kind of bolt-holes the wealthy and powerful are building, now, against the new crop of threats? Other than the ridiculous “let’s colonize Mars with rich white people!” meme, they have to know the global warming hammer is going to drop soon and the die-back and displacement is going to be violent. They’ll want a “mineshaft gap.”
It’s wonderful when things out of your past crop up, if they bring good memories.
I always enjoyed the dictum (favored by Hitchens) “What is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence” – itself asserted without supporting argument. One of the great masters of the art of passionate, soaring, assertion was Friedrich Nietzsche.
Nietzsche comes to mind, today, because Jordan Peterson appears to have absorbed a form of Cliff’s Notes version of Nietzsche, as most of us did in college.
It’s unfashionable to make moral equivocations between 9/11 and what the US and its allies have done in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Libya. It was a cruel and malicious act of terrorism, without a doubt, and triggered an amazingly violent – indiscriminately violent – response from the US. The US regime’s reaction to 9/11 was one of those “If A wrongs me, I am going to feel justified in wronging B and C in return.” Except, of course, ‘retaliation’ doesn’t apply when you’re claiming revenge on the wrong target. As the US did, knowingly and deliberately.
Getting the time-clock off the wall was not easy; I had to remove the logic board from shock-mountings in order to get to the mounting screws. Disappointingly, it turned out to be quite heavy. Memo to future-self: make sure backing plates are aluminum not steel before you estimate shipping.
The US regime will never fully abandon its slave-keeping ways until it has been 1) disarmed, 2) dismantled, 3) reconstructed with a constitutional government that respects its own rules and does not vote-suppress, red-line, commit crimes against humanity, or slavery.
