May Be Quiet

This weekend (Sunday morning, specifically) I’ve got travel plans, heading from Washington DC to Sao Paulo for a conference. [mts]

At the conference I will be attempting to say something smart about the evolution of security as a side-effect of bad system administration. It’s possibly the most boring topic I have ever undertaken, and I am looking at my slide deck, going, “what was I thinking?!”

There’s a chance I may decide not to post during the trip, so if I get quiet, that’s what’s going on. If I remain quiet after the 20th, check under the refrigerator and see if the cat got me.

If North Carolina gets whalloped by a hurricane, I am sure there will be a slew of atheist pundits saying “It’s god’s vengeance for passing all those anti-trans bathroom bills, and suppressing the vote!”

jazzlet & kestrel: I’m mighty glad the hurricane didn’t hit the DC area, or I’d have all kinds of travel hell (and, of course, a lot of people would have worse problems than that!) One of the fun challenges of doing the speaking circuit is sometimes the weather or airlines do not cooperate. There have been a few times when weather has closed airports and I’ve done crazy things like terminate my flight in Chicago, rent a car, and drive to Minneapolis so I could do a 9:00am keynote the next day. I don’t remember if I was coherent or not. Wanna bet?

Have a safe journey and good luck with the presentation (or is it like the theatre where I should tell you to break a leg instead)
