A sign of the apocalypse

As if the pandemic had not already given us enough to worry about, we now have rats coming up through toilets via the waste pipes. This is apparently because, due to the pandemic, there is less rubbish around to provide them with food so they are going farther afield in search of it. This is apparently being reported all over the UK but they will surely come here too.

Forget the Four Horsemen. This is far more terrifying.

IIRC London had enough rats during WWII the Gov’t appointed a special rat controller. There is even a book about that part of the war but I have not been able to locate it.

The Brits just have to call up the spirit of the blitz again. And keep the toilet seat down.

Always keep the toilet lid down if not in use, flushing sends plumes of whatever is in the toilet all over your bathroom, we have ample proof that viruses can survive and spread in fine water droplets, many bacteria can too. Also saves arguments about leaving the seat up, but that is merely a beneficial sie effect.

Jazzlet, if you’re flushing it, it’s in use — if it’s not in use, then lid up or lid down makes no real difference.

(Also, the toilet seat has a big hole in it; presumably, people mean the toilet cover)

    @ John Morales
It may be your impulse to correct overlooked the fact that I wrote “Always keep the lid down if not in use”, yes I could have been more precise about what I meant by “in use” but I doubt anyone misunderstood what I was saying. And if you have the lid down thre is no “big hole”.

    Fair enough, Jazzlet.

Lid down when one is not defecating, urinating or vomiting into the loo.

(‘course, that doesn’t mean one won’t find a rat there when lifting that lid in preparation for bodily substance evacuation)

In passing, it’s obvious to me how Christian eschatology has suffused English; an apocalypse is a revelation and Armageddon is a place.
