I remember when it came out.
I also remember when the various solving algorithms were published; after that, there was no merit to anyone who solved it by memorising the few simple steps and practicing a bit.
Anyway, point being there is no real comparison between chess and cubing, so the whole skit fell flat for me.
Heh. Thanks, John. I guess. A college roommate was pretty good, but not quite like that and still much more formidable as a musician.
Anyway, that was plenty for me, so I’ll go back to chess now.

@2 Like football really, all you have to do is keep control of the ball better than the other guys so you can score more goals than them. Once you’ve practised that a bit there’s really no merit in it.
I’m sure that the Rubik’s cube does not need a TV show to maintain its popularity. It has been and still is one of the best modern-day inventions. Let’s hope it maintains its popularity in the coming years.

As former German national soccer player Lukas Podolski once remarked “soccer is like chess, but without dice”.
Solving Rubik’s Cube is easy! First of all, you have to find a sequence of moves that affects some pieces you want in some way you want. OK, but that will trash the rest of the cube. No matter! All you have to do is, after fixing the wanted pieces, make a single move to “park” them somewhere out of the way; and then just reverse your original sequence, restoring what you trashed before, for when you return the pieces you corrected from where you parked them …..
