So why is this a bad thing, exactly?

In a speech, Mike Pence said that “”[Democrats] want to make rich people poorer, and poor people more comfortable.” As if that’s a bad thing. The idea that poor people should get a break even once in a while strikes terror in the hearts of these sociopaths.

So, I presume that not a single conservative will ever accept a dollar from Social Security. That they will never drive on roads that have been financed by public tax dollars. Because socialism is a bad thing that could never have good consequences. That rich people deserve the exorbitant excesses that they live with each and every day. That poor people deserve to live in conditions that no human should have to endure. FUCK Pence. FUCK TPA. FUCK every conservative asshole who believes that the rich and the poor are deserving of their status. EVERY FUCKING ONE OF THEM SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE THE LIFE OF A POOR HOMELESS PERSON FOR THE REST OF THEIR MISERABLE LIVES.

Malignant Narcicist Ayn Rand supposedly collected SS. I don’t remember about Medicare but I wouldn’t be surprised. Like a lot (most?) of Libertarians, her philosophy doesn’t have much moral consistency.

The Conservative view is that since anybody and everybody could be rich if they wanted, poor people want to be poor. The cognitive dissonance that Conservative philosophy also sees economics as a zero sum game doesn’t bother them.

“[Democrats] want to make rich people poorer, and poor people more comfortable.”
    vs
‘[Democrats] want to make rich people less rich, and poor people less poor.’

“[Democrats] want to make rich people poorer, and poor people more comfortable.” — Christian fundie Mike Pence

“Wherefor by their fruits ye shall know them.” — Jesus

    billseymour, but then also:

“The poor you will always have with you, a but you will not always have me.”
    — Jesus

    Matthew 26:11

(Hey, Jesus is only transitory, by his own quoted proclamation!)

Jeffrey Bezos is worth over 180 billion US dollars. He could spend/lose/give away/be taxed for 99.99465% of his fortune and still have over 10 million dollars left to live a nice, cushy life.

  8. johnson catman says

re Reginald Selkirk @8: “Cushy” is a relative term. For most of us, ten million dollars would allow us to never have to work again and live very comfortably. Bezos would most likely consider that having to live like a pauper. With that 180 billion dollars, you could give 18,000 people 10 million dollars each. That is how obscenely rich he is.

MAGA for Pence apparently does not mean his country rising on the rankings of social indices. Take for instance life expectancy. Of course we can’t trust socialist sources like the UN and the WHO, so we’ll look at a report of the CIA from 2017. The USA is 54th, just behind …. Cuba.
Btw it’s doubtful if JoeB will do much about this as well. He’s a member of the same political elite and as much the product of the corrupt political system that makes sure the American poor will stay uncomfortable in the foreseeable future.
