Another incel killing?

Since the shooter who caused the deaths of two people at a yoga studio killed himself, it is going to be a while before his motives can be gleaned from other sources. But initial signs point to this possibly being another rampage by a racist far-right misogynist, someone who shared the ‘incel’ (involuntarily celibate) mindset of rage against women because they will not have sex with them.

The man who shot and killed two women at a yoga studio in Tallahassee, Florida, on Friday before killing himself was a far-right extremist and self-proclaimed misogynist who railed against women, black people, and immigrants in a series of online videos and songs.

Scott Beierle, 40, was named by Tallahassee police as the shooter who opened fire inside the Hot Yoga Tallahassee studio, killing two and injuring four other women and a man.

On a YouTube channel in 2014, Beierle filmed several videos of himself offering extremely racist and misogynistic opinions, in which he called women “sluts” and “whores,” and lamented “the collective treachery” of girls he had gone to high school with.

“There are whores in — not only every city, not only every town, but every village,” he said, referring to women in interracial relationships, whom he said had betrayed “their blood.”

In one video called “Plight of the Adolescent Male,” Beierle named Elliot Rodger, who killed six people and injured 14 in a shooting in Isla Vista, California. Rodger is often seen as a hero for so-called incels, or those who consider themselves “involuntarily celibate.”

“I’d like to send a message now to the adolescent males … that are in the position, the situation, the disposition of Elliot Rodger, of not getting any, no love, no nothing. This endless wasteland that breeds this longing and this frustration. That was me, certainly, as an adolescent,” Beierle said.

Why attack a yoga studio? Apparently in this world, they believe that women deliberately taunt incels by wearing clothing that accentuates their figures and yoga pants are one form of provocative clothing.

In the mindset of the people in this world, almost everything is aimed at belittling and taunting them. The possibility that yoga pants may be worn for comfort while exercising seems to have eluded them.

The possibility that women dress for themselves, without caring about the opinions of incels, seems to have eluded them.

Well I think Yoga was targeted because it is coded as feminine. He went there for the same reason John Dillinger robbed banks (“that’s where the money is”). That the participants wear clothing and assume poses he finds arousing is probably just a bonus.

Even before “incels” became a thing, there were the likes of George Sodini in 2009 who murdered women at an LA Fitness because he hated women for not having sex with him. This is nothing new, it just now has a name.

I don’t give a tinker’s damn how women dress around these idiots. As far as I’m concerned women could walk around stark naked, perpetually pose like a center-fold, lick their lips, and gaze forth with ‘bedroom eyes’. You still don’t get to molest, much less kill, them. No matter what the woman, or any other human being, may do that turns you on you are still required to control yourself. If you feel you might lose control you walk away. Failing that you are simply not an adult and as a child you need to be supervised.

Being an adult means controlling yourself no matter what may be around you.

I have long been tired of the incel whining about how they can’t get laid. Elliot Rodger had real issues. No self-aware or sane woman would want to be near him. He looked at women as cheap sex objects who owed him access to their nethers. While, ironically, building up the ideal of sex as a holy sacrament. It’s the madonna-whore complex on steroids. He uses terms like whore and slut as insults while deeply wishing that they really were so whorish and slutty that they would give themselves to him.

The whole thing is complicated because Roger, typical of many incels, focuses of perfection in grooming and presentation. Few non-gay women want a man to be prettier than they are. I don’t know if Elliot Rodger is gay or not, I don’t care, Good sex and companionship between consenting adults is a gift everyone should be able to enjoy. Independent of orientation. Perhaps he didn’t know, or couldn’t comfortably examine, his orientation. He was clearly sending mixed signals. The tension, barely contained desperation and fear, around women and excessive fastidiousness and stilted politeness presents as creepiness. Hard for anyone to be comfortable around any person wrapped so tight.

Even that wouldn’t necessarily be an insurmountable obstacle to sexual satisfaction if these guys were willing to resort to professionals. But, here again fear, they would claim superior moral values (sure) stop them. The boys, males who can’t control themselves are, can’t win for losing. Even that wouldn’t be so much of a problem if they just killed themselves. They have created the problem, can’t face the problem, and insist on blaming other for the problem.
