John Oliver on the cruel Trump policy of separating immigrant children from parents

He makes two points: One is that there is no law that demands it be done as Trump and his people maintain, and that the Bible is a terrible basis for any governmental action.

“and that the Bible is a terrible basis for any governmental action.”
    .
Any imaginary belief is a terrible basis for any action, and it is even more terrible when that imaginary belief is in governmental authority.
    .
May self-evident Truth save us from all religions promoting imaginary powers!

And of course, there is always a equal and opposite Bible quotation:
“‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:33–34.

Not that it’s a good idea to go all biblical on Free Thought, but the Hebrew in the various stranger/foreigner translations actually means “Non-Hebraic Monotheist,” i.e. non-members of the tribes who recognize yhvh as the only gawd.

Whether or not the category includes Christians and Mohammedans is a matter of long debate.

Various heathens/rationalists/atheists such as myself aren’t covered.

Marcus @7: So do the sneering sons of 45. As for 45 himself, he just needs to be smacked. Repeatedly and hard. Until he stops lying, so . . . never.
