The Daily Show on the GOP debate

Carly Fiorina in dropping out of the race and is expected to be joined soon by Chris Christie. Even she felt obliged to say that the country is ruled by a “political class that only serves the big, the powerful, the wealthy, and the well connected”.

In her concession speech, Hillary Clinton evoked Sanders’s themes too.

In some ways, Hillary sounded even more like Bernie than Bernie did. She highlighted three of his most recognizable issues — campaign finance reform, breaking up big banks and the high cost of prescription drugs — in her concession speech, claiming them as her own. It was almost as if she was saying to voters: You can have all this, and more, if you elect me. (“More” being either baggage or experience, depending on your viewpoint.)

Elections are more than electing people. At their best, they are a way of driving the political conversation. Fiorina’s and Clinton’s comments show how much the debate has shifted towards Bernie Sanders’s message.

This is a bit late but I thought that these two clips of The Daily Show dealing with the last Republican debate were pretty funny. That was such a hilarious fiasco on so many levels that I think it will be on highlight reels for years to come.

Which is another reason to ignore the cop-out arguments and to vote according to your values.
