Who would compare rape victims to slave owners?

Who would say that a rape victim claiming the right to have an abortion is analogous to a slave owner claiming the right to kill a slave?

Here’s a clue. It is the same person who says that being gay is a choice, the high school AP history curriculum will cause students to sign up for ISIS, that the US now is similar to Nazi Germany, gun control contributed to the Holocaust, Obamacare is like slavery, and that having gun control is more devastating to him than seeing a body riddled with bullets.

Yes, the Republicans’ favorite nutcase Ben Carson is on the loose again, playing the game of seeing what is the most offensive analogy you can come up with in support of your extremist views, because clearly that is what endears you to Republican voters, especially those in Iowa where he has now taken the lead.

We should start a game to try and predict what he will say next. I tried to come up with some things:

“Saying “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas” is worse that the censorship practiced by North Korea.”

“The questions asked on the US census forms are far more intrusive than the information gathered by the Stasi on the people of East Germany.”

“Raising the top tax rates on the wealthy is worse than the confiscation of land by the Pol Pot regime.”

But those are pretty weak. I think my own imagination is just not strong enough to come up with things that are as outrageous as the things Carson says.

The Donald has already said something similar.

“I’m a good Christian,” the Republican presidential front-runner said. “If I become president, we’re gonna be saying Merry Christmas at every store … You can leave happy holidays at the corner.”

Stuff like that involves fairly arbitrary links based on pixie dust, folded moonbeams and an awful lot of squinting. Since the goal is to link things any decent person might care about with awful things there’s no real way to dream them up beforehand. To do so out in the open would be basically insulting the thing you care about on your own.
