Pearls Before Swine on the McCutcheon verdict

The Pearls Before Swine comic strip is my favorite among the ones currently running. It has a wildly unpredictable absurdist humor that often breaks the fourth wall by inserting the cartoonist Stephan Pastis into the strip to interact with his characters, and uses puns and other plays on words (like this one).

Sometimes the puns sometimes have ridiculously elaborate set ups, like this one or this or this or this that exasperate the cartoonist’s creations within the strip.

Pastis is not usually overtly topical or political in his humor but yesterday’s comic was an exception.

Didja hear about the chef who always served his Eggs Benedict on a hubcap from a 1957 Cadillac? Because there’s no plate like chrome for the Hollandaise.

The dialogue in the McCutheon strip was hilarious. It reminds me of a Bob and Ray skit.
