Petty little sisters

When it comes to the Catholic church, I have gone somewhat easy on the nuns. It is true that they have had a history of terrible cruelty and abuse towards the young ‘fallen’ women who were consigned to their care but in more recent times, at least in the US, they have been some of the more progressive voices within the church and not involved the horrific sexual abuses that have been exposed.

But the order of nuns with the overly-cute and cloying name of Little Sisters of the Poor, that reeks of an overweening sense of false humility, have forfeited any claim to sympathy with their dogmatic attitude on the contraceptive mandate where they claim that even merely signing a form exempting them from paying for those services is somehow a violation of their faith.

The Daily Show explains what the issue is and gives them the mockery they deserve.

The sense of entitlement of these religious groups knows no bounds.

Being among “the more progressive voices in the Catholic church” is not setting the bar very high now is it?

This is pretty much like refusing to sign an acknowledgment that a certain occurrence has actually happened, id est, a delivery-person gives you your package and you refuse to sign his receipt.

All the government is asking is to sign the friggin’ receipt. If the sisters don’t want to sign, then take away their exemption. Obviously they don’t want it. It’s only price is the signing that the exemption has been delivered.

    Delivery Refused. Send It Back!
