Looks tasteful to me

Satanists, who proposed putting their own symbol on the Oklahoma State Capitol grounds next to the Ten Commandments monument that legislators already put there, have submitted their design for the monument.

The plans show a 7-foot tall-statue of a seated Satan flanked by two children. The design includes two important Satanist symbols: the pentacle, located above Satan’s head, and the baphomet. [New York-based Satanic Temple spokesman Lucien] Greaves said the goat-headed baphomet is believed to be a symbol of idolatry that the Knights Templar were accused of worshipping, and it is now part of disparate occult and mystical traditions.

Click on this link for a clear image of the proposed design. The commission that decides on these things has issued a moratorium on future submissions after the Hindus said that they too would be submitting one. I wonder why.

It’s nice overall, but I think the children look unnaturally stiff and creepy. (Of course, the children in the Christian equivalents often do, too.) But even stiff and creepy children would be better than none for the potential to maximally infuriate Christians.

I don’t see how the commission can impose a moratorium. How can they give preference to some religions and not others? I’d like to see Druids erect a full-scale Stonehenge replica, and surely the Rosicrucians can build a nice Egyptian temple.

I just looked at the artist’s pictures.

    1. It looks too busy and detailed to me. Plus with all the details, it is going to be difficult to make.

    2. With all the details, it also looks fragile. You could easily break pieces off here and there.

Still, whatever. I doubt it will last too long before the xians destroy it. Hope they have it insured, monitored with cameras, and have plenty of spares.

How can they give preference to some religions and not others?

Because they are totalitarian christofascists. They only obey the laws they want to.

It is going to court for sure. Which was the whole idea when they set up their illegal ten commandments idol.

It is exactly the same as a dog pissing on a fire hydrant to mark its territory.

If it ever gets its place on the capitol grounds it will be repeatedly vandalized until someone builds a brick wall around it.

The fundies will never allow it to stand unmolested.
