Vince Foster lives!

Well, actually he is still dead. But the story about the friend and aide to the Clintons who tragically committed suicide in 1993, and which the right wing got into a lather about claiming that he had been murdered by the Clintons because he harbored some dark secret about them, has now received a new incarnation with a new dastardly plot.

This time around the victim is Loretta Fuddy who died on Wednesday in a plane crash.

The Hawaiian health official who verified the authenticity of President Obama’s birth certificate died in a small plane crash.

The plane, carrying a pilot and eight passengers, went down Wednesday in the water a half mile off the Hawaiian island of Molokai, the Maui Fire Department said. The lone fatality was Loretta Fuddy, who has served as state health director since January 2011. Tom Matsuda, the interim executive director of Hawaii’s health insurance exchange, confirmed Fuddy’s death.

Fuddy, 65, made national news in April 2011 when she verified the authenticity of certified copies of President Obama’s birth certificate. Obama had requested the release to curb claims by so-called “birthers” that he was born in Kenya and not eligible to be president.

Since Fuddy was the person who certified the authenticity of the birth certificate, this automatically made her part of the cover-up plot. It was hardly surprising that Orly Taitz, the reigning queen of the birther movement and the famed triple threat of lawyer, dentist, and real estate agent who is one of my all-time favorite people and has devoted her life to proving that president Obama was born in Kenya and that he has orchestrated a vast cover-up to hide that fact, jumped on the news of Fuddy’s death. Another famous birther Donald Trump was not far behind.

The fact that Fuddy was the only fatality among the nine passengers only serves to heighten suspicions of dark doings. Fuddy was also involved in the creation of Hawaii’s health care exchanges which, in the fevered minds of the birthers, likely adds further evidence that she was somehow targeted, though the logic is never spelled out.

Since the right-wing furor over Benghazi and Obamacare seems to be running out of steam, this new development will be seized on by these dead-enders as evidence of something, though exactly what is not clear.

Actually, IMHO, Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman is the real eminence gris behind the birther movement. After all, both he and Taitz were born in Moldova. It’s all so simple, you’re just stupid if you don'[t understand it. End snark.

So 8 people were involved in a conspiracy to crash a plane and murder a high-ranking state official? Surely this could have been accomplished more efficiently. How many people will it take to kill those 8 so they don’t divulge the conspiracy? I can only conclude we’re all doomed.

This seems to be the case, for example in Trump’s tweet, but I don’t understand it.

It seems to me that if you set out to assassinate someone to keep them quiet, you make damn sure they are killed so that they can’t speak out about whatever they were going to speak out about, especially since the attempt on their life (if it came to be known) might increase their credibility.

I think these allegations would have been more credible (but still ridiculous) if everyone died on impact, or if the whole plane was never found, etc. rather than that they all survived the crash and she happened to die in the water. To believe this was an assassination you have to believe either that it was horribly botched or that the assassin(s) was/were among the survivors. But the lunatics don’t seem to be pushing an investigation into the survivors.

The botched theory doesn’t hold water either, because the crash has been attributed to an engine failure shortly after takeoff. This isn’t the kind of thing has a high likelihood of being fatal, especially to passengers in a fairly light single engine aircraft like the one involved, especially over fairly warm near-shore waters like the site of this incident. The preliminary report isn’t out yet

But such logic never deters such people. For example, those who think that 9/11 was an ‘inside job’ by the Bush administration never have satisfactory explanation for why they planned to fly the planes into the buildings AND planted charges that caused the building to collapse.
