Howard Stern on anti-gay bigotry

He lays into the bigots with great gusto, with his usual strong language.

The Rolling Stone article he refers to is by Sabrina Rubin Erdely and appears in the February 16, 2012 issue and can be read here. It is well worth reading for its revealing look at how otherwise seemingly normal adults in a small Minnesota community can turn so vicious when it comes to homosexuality, egging on their own children into hateful behavior against anyone suspected of being gay and not coming to the aid of adolescents who are being tormented. This triggered a wave of teen suicides.

These people do it in the name of their god. They make me sick.

Stern’s suggestion is right. People like Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum and other prominent people who spread their anti-gay agenda must be challenged whenever they do so.

I used to have a bad opinion about Howard Stern because I felt that he was very crude, unnecessarily so (Not profane, but crude, as in crass and vulgar; profanity doesn’t bother me that much.) I haven’t listened to any of his shows in the last ten years.

That said, I do have to applaud him for his stance on gays.

I don’t know Howard Stern very well, but I loved him here.
“Rick Santorum shouldn’t be fuckin’ cheered, he should be thrown off the fuckin’ stage”.
I’m an Australian, though, and such language comes with the territory. 🙂

I am so glad that you picked up on this. Howard has been a defender of gay rights for decades and has several family and staff members who are gay. I listen to his show daily and while at times he can be over the top for dramatic/comedic effect the fact that he can have an adult, uncensored conversation with his staff and listeners is well worth it. He loves to rant about any of the the anti-gay rhetoric that takes place. Consequently he’s been down on not only the Republicans but also President Obama for his reluctance to stand up for gay rights issues.

Stern is a narcissistic asshole. He’s not a racist or a homophobe, although he is a misogynist. But he mainly is an intelligent, insecure, immature figurehead for immature, insecure 14 year old boys everywhere.

When I heard Howard’s rant on the radio earlier this week, I felt everyone should here this. So raw and real. Glad you posted it up.
