I think we’ve figured out who Tucker Carlson’s role model is

So that’s where the weird speech patterns come from: Tucker Carlson is Jiminy Glick, fictional comedic character.

It’s uncanny.

The big difference is that Glick didn’t lie as much as Carlson. Science magazine went through the full transcript of one of Carlson’s recent tirades, and almost everything Tucker Carlson said about Anthony Fauci this week was misleading or false. I never watch Carlson’s show, so I had no idea how unhinged and divorced from reality his opinions have become. A taste:

Carlson asserted Fauci had committed very serious crimes and said he apparently engineered the single most devastating event in modern American history. Carlson, infamous for assailing people’s looks, also called Fauci a an even tinier version of the Dalai Lama and a Stalinist midget.

Carlson seems to relish criticisms of his comments, which inevitably draw more attention to him and his show. But at the risk of playing into his hand, Science fact-checked his criticisms of Fauci. The analysis shows Carlson took facts out of context and cited long-debunked studies or reports to attack Fauci. He also repeatedly blamed Fauci and other scientists for changing their minds based on new evidence—the bedrock of scientific progress. In Carlson’s calculus, such reversals equal lying.

Obviously, Fauci has committed no crimes, especially not serious ones, and did not engineer the COVID pandemic (which, I thought, Fox News belittled anyway — now it’s the single most devastating event in modern American history?) His ideas about Fauci’s appearance are his to hold, but I don’t think there’s anything Stalinist about him, and hey, what’s wrong with looking like a Tibetan or being a little person anyway?

The article goes through Carlson’s claims line by line and shows that they’re bogus. It’s astonishing that he’s the flagship commentator for a news organization. It’s almost as if Fox has nothing to do with “news”.

It’s what Dumb Idiot Ham displays on his cards in his putrid attractions: regarding scientists as liars because they always change them minds about scientific theories. Never mind the new discoveries that compels them to change their minds. While his own fantasy worldview is regarded as “the unchanging Word of God” never mind it being nothing more than figments of Ham’s imagination as a direct result of him and his ilk deliberately changing the Bible around to make it severely unrealistic under the false guise of “artistic license” or “artistic interpretation,” heavily borrowing elements from every sci-fi fantasy resource out there.

Oh, he’s not talking about the actual virus. They still think COVID-19 is either no worse than a cold or a complete hoax. No, he’s talking about the “devastating” lockdowns, social distancing, mask orders, and the “forced” vaccines that are leading us down the path of, as the fashies are now calling it, “medical tyranny.”

I never watch anything on Fox, but then I don’t watch anything on TV. I have never seen more than a few seconds of Carlson or any of the other Murdoch mouth pieces. What a horrible human being. The only quibble I have with Carlson “opinions” is that they are his opinions. He’s nothing but a shill and a very bad actor. Who knows what his opinions are and who cares. It’s the money bags behind him that matter. Tucker could be gone today and Rupee would have a new shill in his place tonight who is just as obnoxious and odious.

More likely, worse. Very much worse. Such has been the evolutionary trail of the MAGAt politician; so goes their Fox mouthpieces.

If you think the Fox News you get on basic cable is bad, it seems that Fox Nation, their streaming service, has gone full woo woo. Tucker is hosting a series about cattle mutilations while another series covers the very-real-and-totally-not-made-up threat of alien abductions.

If anyone has committed crimes against humanity it is Tucker Carlson and Fox NoNews. They are literally killing their fan base off.
The Red states have much higher rates of deaths and disability due to the Covid-19 virus, especially since the vaccines came out.
They are centers of quack medicine and antivaxxers.

The pandemic has been deadlier in red states – Axios https://www.axios.com › Health

Mar 25, 2022 — In the post-vaccine era, red states have seen much higher excess deaths than blue states.

My idiot antivaxxer neighbor was one of them.

He decided in January that the Covid-19 virus pandemic was over and he didn’t have to be careful anymore.
Shortly after that, he caught the virus and died.
His wife was vaccinated. Nothing happened to her. Except that she is now a widow.

My exposure to him is limited to stories which pop up on my news feed, but Tucker’s rant about the utter devastation of the “woke Left” at news of Fauci’s retirement only belongs in the world of bad parody. Besides claiming that essentially all non-viewers of his show viewed Fauci as their god, and whose lives would have no meaning because Fauci retired, Tucker also slipped in a few bits of random anti-Semitism. Even after seeing clips of his speech grieving the redesign of the M&M cartoon mascots, specifically that of the green M&M, this newer rant is even more bonkers.

I can’t find the link anymore. Who has it?

It happened in Florida a while back (maybe a decade). On a Fox affiliate station the news guy lied. And somebody sued. Fox submitted an amicus brief about how “Fox News is an Entertainment company”. And that meant there was no such thing as truth or lies, it’s all just entertainment.

Anybody else remember this? Anybody got a link to the brief?

    Where it also states,

We reached out to the Federal Communications Commission, which regulates communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. An FCC spokesperson responded in an email, saying that they don’t “have any rules or licensing requirements in which a cable channel might categorize itself as news vs. entertainment.”

We all have opinions. Mine is that Carlson is a most odious piece of shit and, I know that this is horrible to say, but I am not sure if I would piss on him if he was on fire because I just don’t like fascists.
