Kirk Cameron wants to control your children

He wants to save our children like he saved Christmas. By bombing.

Kirk Cameron is plugging his new, and no doubt terrible, movie.

Remember, Cameron is the guy whose post-TV career was dedicated to anti-science propaganda, criticizing the teaching of evolution. That should tell you how worthwhile his opinion is. He has now expanded his goals to changing the teaching of everything — he wants a narrow religious view forced on all of education, because anything outside his personal ideology is inaccurate and immoral.

Note that he says whoever controls the textbooks, controls the future and whoever controls the future will determine whether we live in a free country. His idea of a free country is one where the churches control the hearts and minds and souls of our children. How about if we instead give the children the best information and tools for learning that we’ve got, and leave their hearts and minds and “souls” to them?

As I am a fan of ‘God Awful Movies’ (slogan: “we watch awful movies so you don’t have to”) I have already come into contact with this person. Nuff said.

Some of those Christian Xmas films are slightly antisemitic, as they fearure some evil Jew who opposes the will of the local townspeople to set up Christian symbols on public land during the holiday.

    Follow the money.

    Private xian schools are expensive.
School A in my area is $9,000 per year now per student.
The range is from $7,000 to $12,000 per year per student for several others including a Catholic school.
If you have two students in school at the same time, you are looking at almost a new car every year.

The education you get in these range from average to below average.

    Public schools are free.
They can be OK or good depending on a lot of variables, mostly which area they are in.

Kirk Cameron is just your average creepy fundie xian kook.

Christianity in the US has been declining for decades and now makes up 63% of the population, down from 90% a few decades ago. US xianity is losing 2 million members a year, a drop of about 1% a year.
His perversion of xianity, white fundie xians, only makes up 17% of the US population.

The fundie xians are losing control over US society, they know it, and they are starting to panic.

There used to be a poster on The Onion AV Club whose username was “Kirk Cameron Left Me Behind.” Still cracks me up.

He is correct about textbooks, sort of. Which is why I teach my pre-service teachers to eschew them whenver they can.

I wonder if Cameron ever stays up late at night, stewing over the fact that his fellow Growing Pains cast member Leo DiCaprio went on to be a huge star.

Shit like this is why, in Canada, the the only group of people who feel that evangelical Christians are of a net benefit to society are… evangelicals Christians.
Jewish people and the non-religious REALLY don’t trust them.

that would be insane! I hesitate to think what would become of society if we did that. People might even try and think for themselves and maybe even adopt anti -authoritarian leanings! How would that effect the social order of our country?

Yes indeed – control the textbooks and the schools and you control the future. Social democrat political parties around the world are failing to understand how ruthless the Right is, and how determined they are to ensure that they will prevail, for ever.

Kirk is right. I recognized the public school corruption 40 years ago while i was a kid. And after Obama was planted in yge White House, it didn’t take long to figure out how bad things were getting. I began homeschooling my kids over ten years ago. And i get a lot of remarks on how my kids are nothing like public school kids. The schools are u suitable for children. And we in the homeschool movement have grown tremendously. My oldest daughter vows to never send her two kids to a school. Parents should be raising amd educating their kids. Or don’t have kids.
