Feeling rather doomy, but the spider did cheer me up

Sweet dreams.

I didn’t have any such dreams — I could barely sleep last night. Today classes resume, and what I feel is mainly dread, as if this were the day of my execution. We shouldn’t be teaching in-person right now, for one thing. For another, I’m completely revising my approach to the class, because I have to be flexible to changing circumstances, and I have to be prepared to teach students who may have to periodically go into isolation. That means I have to write all new lectures, all semester long. For one more, I have lost all confidence in the university as a place I can trust to support me or my students.

And now I’m tired.

Right now I’m just writing on the walls of my jail cell…and being melodramatic. Everything will be fine, I tell myself, and it probably will be. It’s just going to be hard to get out there and act (teaching is show biz, you know) cheerful and enthusiastic while not feeling that way at all.

Peacock spiders are always fun, especially when they dance. So adorable. Or portia spiders… Where I live there are really cute little black and white jumping spiders, they look like tiny predatory zebras. So so cute.

Here in Toronto, officially at Provincial behest we were supposed to be re-starting in-person teaching at the high school level yesterday. Several school boards were up in arms.

Instead we had a snow day, and we’re having a couple more, because when over 30cm of snow gets dropped on a large city in less than 24 hours, well, that has to be moved out of the way before you start moving children around to schools anyway.

Well,I was on faceache yesterday and I saw someone trying to get a spider to bite him,I bet that would have you rolling in the aisles.

Doesn’t laying babies on their stomachs increase the chance of SIDS? That’s the real horror here.

Watch a video of pet dwarf xenomorphs feeding on furry critters?
The political situation in USA and Britain has literally left me sleepless two nights now, I need a distraction.

    @ Walter Solomon, #9

You’re also not supposed to put any blankets in with a child young enough for SIDS to be a danger. However, it looks like that kid is probably old enough to turn over on their own, so it’s probably not an issue. That looks more like a bed with a rail than a crib, or maybe one of those cribs you can convert into a little bed as the child grows (I think that’s a thing, but I could be wrong), so they’re probably a young toddler.
