TheCrafsMan is my new therapist

I’ve got a busy day ahead of me, so I’m going to start you off with something light. I just discovered this YouTube channel, “TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin” (I spelled every word correctly, don’t give me any grief), and I found it immensely relaxing. It’s just this guy, the camera focused on his gloved hands, playing with little toys or kit-bashing or assembling stuff, all while having the most mellow, easy-going, and positive conversation in this odd New Orleans accent. It’s like watching Snoop Dogg make latex molds while talking about peace of mind. Oh, there’s also a puppet. Here’s a sample:

It’s therapy for nerds. It’s not going to be everyone’s thing, but I found it soothing.

Personally, I prefer to watch AOC taking the one chip challenge from a bag of Carolina pepper and Scorpion pepper chips she found in her Christmas Stocking.

I usually end up watching one of the soap makers or a ballet how to . Just watched I Dream in Soap make a copy of The Scream …. in soap . That painting reflected exactly how I felt and watching her make that copy was soothing and impressive at the same time.

Actually….if anyone wants a bit of a challenge, the Royal Horticultural Society has been cleaning out the building they’ve been using since 1907. They have found various bits of scientific equipment which have no known purpose (though, obviously, they once did). They’re enlisting public help to identify some of the items… https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-59562636

Love it! I follow a bunch of makers, and those that I end up actually subscribing to do more than just make; they make me feel good through some aspect beyond that.

Uh no, something about ASMR feels like a 9 inch file is being worked up my spine. No, thank you.

Sometimes the soothing works for me, sometimes not. Maybe The Crafsman caught me at a bad time, but it sounded a little too Rimmer-and-Mister-Fibble for my taste, so I passed.
