Just watched a couple jackals wander in, lap up some drink, nuzzle each other a bit then wander out stage-left. Neat!
Jackals are cooler than their reputation. Lions often steal the prey jackals have killed. That is why you always see a pride of lions munching around a pile if bones in the morning and assume the bloody parasites are good hunters. Lions are the Republicans of the savannah.
