2,000,000th comment achieved!

The TWO MILLIONTH comment on Pharyngula (caveat: we lost many comments in various moves, so really it’s the two millionth surviving comment — we practice natural selection on our commenters here) has been made. It’s here, and was made by the esteemed Lynna, OM in the Infinite Thread. Congratulations! Good work! Keep it up!

Sorry, I don’t have any prizes. Maybe I can save up for the 3 millionth comment.

Congrats to Lynna, OM. Not just for the round comment number, but that was also a pretty banger comment, backed up with sources. Bravo!

Facebook again! Fucking Facebook is hosting hundreds of groups that pump up rage against masks and against Critical Race Theory, … and ultimately, against public schools.[..]

Good representative comment with some nice language and points.

Perhaps you can award spiders as a prize for the vaunted 3 millionth mark. I’ve been wanting a Mexican red-knee tarantula for some time now.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regarding very large numbers…

David Wood at Acts17Apologetics (Youtube) is one of the few original theists (I don’t agree with him, but he is capable of going in directions not travelled by a million other theists before him).
    -Now he has published
“The multiverse response to the problem of evil”. I am not good at thinking about infinity, so forming a good critique of his idea is something I would like to outsource to other readers.
Sorry for not posting a link, I cannot copy and paste with my phone.

    birgerjohansson, what’s the point?

The supposed “problem of evil” is predicated on an omnibenevolent deity; I hardly have to examine the claims made to know it’s a stupid claim.

    Bah.

PZ, I been reading your blog for almost 20 years now. At least that’s how it feels. No offense, but the Bush years were rough and your little blog helped me through.

Aaargh trying to get my mind around those numbers hurt!.

PS I have been reading this blog since when Dubya aka Bush the lesser was president. It has been an education, long before me too it revealed how ubiquitous harassment is.

Multiverse arguments are, in my considered opinion, dreck. They nearly always boil down to some variation on this theme:

“Why is X the way it is?”

“Actually, X turned out every way, but everywhere it happened differently is too far away to see. [jazz hands]”

“… How did we learn anything from that?”

“Did you not see my [jazz hands]?!”

“Bush the Lesser”! , love that!
