Is anyone else waiting for that magical moment when the malign spirit of Donald Trump is exorcised from the White House? We next have to purge the malignancy from the rest of the country.

I read where there will be super deep clean due to Covid before the Bidens move in.

He’s at Joint Base Andrews bragging about his “accomplishments” to his kids, grand kids, and a few others. He got one last “Hail to the Chief” and his 21 gun salute.

Some a-hole Republicans in the House and Senate are already complaining about Biden’s plans to undo T####’s legacy. Nothing much has changed.

I’m in Oztralia. It will be 2am. I’m waiting with baited breath for this worst part to be over.

This is one time when an exorcism is appropriate.
It should take days at the least.

I never believed in demons, but the GOP and especially Trump certainly challenged that disbelief.
It does work well as a metaphor.

Yes, but even more so, when neither it nor he no longer has their tiny hands on the “red button” and the other instruments of powercorruption. The champagne is on ice, the port is ready, and it will be (my local time) dinner-time with much feasting.

First (minor…it’s been done by almost all incoming presidents) disappointment… Not only did Biden add “…so help be God.” to the end of the oath of office, but Roberts prompted it.

Ain’t part of oath as given in the Constitution guys.

  7. JustaTech says

@whheydt: It’s been a long, long time since we had a president who belonged to a sect that didn’t allow for the swearing of oaths, but only the affirmation of oaths. Though now I wonder, did Nixon swear, or affirm, since he was a Quaker?

(Pointless tidbit: Nixon’s last meal as president was cottage cheese on canned pineapple rings and a glass of milk.)

Cheap rhetorics instead of concrete ideas. Typical for American pseudoprogressives.

  9. Tethys says

Oh do stifle it mnbo. Cheap rhetoric just caused congress to be attacked.

Perhaps you could worry about your own massively corrupt government today, instead of vomiting your cheap rhetoric on our massive sigh of relief at having a POTUS who isn’t a completely unqualified wannabe dictator?

I asked this once before, but what is the very effective thing that you are doing that makes you “authentic” and not “pseudo”? And I don’t know whether you’re American or not, but you really do spend an awful lot of time talking about how other people are all talk.

  11. PaulBC says

Are they really sure the White House was fully vacated? What are the odds they find Riff Raff lurking in a closet? In flagrante delicto, no less.

I hope they’re being careful here.

  12. Rob Grigjanis says

PaulBC @14: It’s neither here nor there, but mnb0 is Dutch. He did have a concrete idea; ‘progressives’ wouldn’t have voted for Biden. In other words, they should have tied a concrete block to the body politic and thrown it into the Potomac. Very progressive.

Randy Rainbow’s newest parody had people in tears . Accurate representation of Dolt 45 s presidency, as usual, but it was from sheer relief that the nightmare isn’t going to get worse because of deliberate presidential stupidity and arrogance !

    @ Paul #15
In addition to the traditional change of decor that accompanies the new management, the GSA is steaming and disinfecting every object and surface in the White House right now. Im guessing there are plenty of staff who are jubilant they will no longer have to remove spray tan stains.

Here are some numbers on the 2020 election. This pullquote comes from NPR, but has been widely reported by other news outlets.

“President-Elect Joe Biden Hits 80 Million Votes In Year Of Record Turnout

    November 25, 2020

President-elect Joe Biden’s 2020 vote total shatters the 2008 record of 69.5 million votes cast for Barack Obama.

More votes were cast in the 2020 presidential election than in any other U.S. election in history, and the turnout rate was the highest in more than a century.

President-elect Joe Biden has now earned 80 million votes, and ballots are still being counted. That is by far the most votes cast for any presidential candidate in U.S. history. President Trump holds the distinction, however, of earning the second-most votes all time. About 74 million Americans voted for him.

Biden’s total shatters the 2008 record of 69.5 million votes cast for Barack Obama. The former vice president was also on that ticket as Obama’s running mate.

Overall, more than 156 million Americans cast ballots in 2020, a number that will continue to climb in coming days as more results are reported. The final vote total is likely to get to about 158 million. That is more than 20 million higher than the 2016 record of 137 million votes cast.

The turnout rate is estimated to be 66.5% of eligible voters, the highest since 1900, according to the United States Elections Project.

Statistically speaking that’s a real achievement. Coupled with the grass roots efforts to seat more women and non-white people in elected office, which have been ongoing since the Women’s March, I think the liberal progressives have done a good job of pushing that Overton window to the left.

We flipped GEORGIA! The magas shot themselves in the foot while committing sedition.
